Most Inconsiderate Travelers?
Most Inconsiderate Travelers?
Spaniards up until after 4am this morning at the top of their voices keeping everyone awake being inconsiderate fuckers and with the call to prayer at 4.30, nobody here has had much sleep. I've found the Spanish to continually not give a fuck about others when travelling and it's been my experience they are only challenged by the Russians for selfish behavior when sharing space with others. Oh, and the Israelis, and the yanks. Actually, apart from the Finnish I find most nationalities to be selfish, inconsiderate fucks when traveling.
Any nominations?

people. Some are inconsiderate (too many) and some are considerate. My experience (I have a good amount) indicates it doesn't favour any particular country.

They would tend to be more on the side of inexperienced rather than inconsiderate travelers.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

This. Without a doubt. When a government is forced to issue guidelines to its own citizens telling them how to behave overseas after a series of worldwide outcries of mainlanders' gross behaviour, then you really have reached a new nadir.
Awful travellers. Truly awful.
I know I'm unloveable. You don't have to tell me. I don't have much in my life, but take it - it's yours.

Most of travelers are really long term tourists only.
Modern tourism is an english invention. The term comes from "le grand tour" in french that was a cultural and initiatic journey in France and Italy for young noble lads in the 18/19th century.
In the early 20th century english bourgeoisie added to the numbers and new specific touristic destinations appeared and started competing for their business (Nice on the French Riviera that kept the famous "promenade des Anglais" as a street name, Chamonix or Zermatt in the alps etc.).
I would say that in these early days and prior to that the only real travelers were part of scientific expeditions or traveling for business ventures.
It is people like Alexandra David Neel or Nicolas Bouvier that are the first modern travelers (early 20th century for the first early after WW2 for the later)
Nicolas Bouvier in his travel memories (highly recommended) wrote this fantastic sentence: "it is not you that makes a journey but the journey that makes you"
As for modern tourists or self appointed travelers, I think very few can be redeemed. In my book that requires going out of the beaten tracks without having anything remotely touristic for a goal but only to try to understand and relate with the local people.

You shouldn't have edited out your personal experience, it gave perspective to your opinion and related modern day travelers to the original tourists. I don't think it is an issue with traveling alone but rather finding like minded people.Barang_doa_slae wrote:Most of travelers are really long term tourists only.

I fly twice or more a week and for me it has to be the Mainland Chinese. There is a charter about to believe and the amount of screaming going on is incredible. Immigration love them though as they pay 1 Dollar each......

A Vietnam Airlines passenger has come under fire for letting her son urinate into a sick bag in his seat, instead of using the airplane toilets.
The unsavoury incident occurred on a brand new A350 plane, which currently flies between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
In a Facebook post which has gone viral, a disgusted fellow flyer claimed that a "beautiful female passenger in Seat 11B, with 10 fingernails painted in 10 colours, dressed very fashionably, tore open a vomit bag for her son to pee in, splashing everywhere".
When questioned by the chief steward as to why she did not take her son to the lavatory, the woman ignored him, said the passenger in the post translated by South East Asian travel site VNAFlyer.
The woman at the centre of the incident is said to be a famous Vietnamese singer, and has since been outed on social media.
A similar incident caused an uproar in China last year, when a family allegedly allowed their child to defecate on the seat of a Delta Airlines flight from Beijing to Detroit.
In 2011, French actor Gerard Depardieu outraged fellow passengers by urinating in the aisle of an Air France flight as it prepared to take off, forcing the plane to turn back to its parking spot.
