How important is religion to your life?
How important is religion to your life?
If you come from Ethiopia, Senegal and Indonesia, it would seem to be pretty damn fundamental. If you're from Western Europe or China it barely registers. I'm surprised to see some of the European Catholic countries like Spain and Italy register so low.

Wow, interesting.
For me, very important, but maybe not too obvious...most people frown on heathens nowadays.

Worth noting the figure for Israel. The religious nuts have a seriously disproportionate say in politics.

If you bring into those figures the Belief Systems (some call religions but lets not have that whole debate again, lol) So, Pagans and the like, including Heathens then the picture maybe somewhat different.
Using the UK Census and accepting that only a small number of people will identify themselves on such a document, as Pagan (maybe like the ones who put Jedi)
'When the religion data for the 2001 census of England and Wales was released, modern Pagans made news as their combined number (around 42,000) made them the seventh largest religious group in the UK'
A survey following the 2011 Census, now shows numbers are now 250k +
'during the same time UK Christians have fallen from population reporting to be Christian – from 71.7 per cent in 2001 to 59.3 per cent in 2011'
The default answer, mainstream in the UK, traditionally appears to be Christian but this is clearly changing to less mainstream religions.
Also, 'No Religion' increased from 14.8 per cent of the population in 2001 to 25.1 per cent in 2011.
Although, not exactly a Pagan myself, my belief system (Religion) has and does, guided and supported my life and has no need for the hierarchical structures of mainstream religions.
Everyone can benefit from living their life to a code, be that self generated or passed down from above.
Good Luck to everyone and whatever you believe in, if it works for you, that is all that matters, in the end.
Blessed Be

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

Yes, I am a Hedge Witch but together with many other systems we tend to get grouped under the Pagan label, as they are by far the largest group in the UK.Starving Pelican wrote:Edinwigan, didn't you say you were a witch?

There are a few pagan and heathen expats in Cambodia.
