Terrorism casualties in Western Europe
I spotted this today, and it provides interesting insights into the numbers killed in Western Europe over the last 45 years or so. Despite a couple of large attacks recently, the number of fatalities now compared to the 70s and 80s is way down.
What this also shows is how few casualties there are in Europe compared to places like Africa and the Middle East.
One death is too many of course, but I think this graphic is useful to provide some context.

I know I'm unloveable. You don't have to tell me. I don't have much in my life, but take it - it's yours.
Take away ETA and the IRA and there isn't much left.
Add in Jihadist attacks on the USA, Russia, Western Citizens in North Africa and the attacks all across the Islamic borders in Africa and it reads a different picture. Add on to that IS/Al Qaeda attacks in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Turkey, Egypt etc and I think it gives a fairer view of the problem in hand. Add on to that Islamic separatist attacks in Thailand , China and other parts of SE Asia, I think you get a more realistic view of true scale.
Interesting stats though. Great example of the old adage "there are lies, damn lies and statistics".

Actually, what it does is place in context just how pitiful and insignificant terrorism is in the REAL sense, as in the REAL likelihood and ACTUAL damage that is caused by these idiots. Sure, if you're one of them or related to/friends with, the impact is wider, but then again, when a person dies in a car accident the same wider effects occur then too.Jock Jock wrote:Take away ETA and the IRA and there isn't much left.

What terrorism is about is getting the weak-minded and naturally vengeful to build up anger and hate such that they'll spur a response hopefully affecting the countries that they actually care about. It's worked remarkably well with you.

I agree, Jock Jock. Where I disagree is that the attacks simulated to look 'Jihadist' were in fact, all planned, if not perpetrated, by what I shall refer to as 'other forces'. As you say, 'damned lies'...Jock Jock wrote: Interesting stats though. Great example of the old adage "there are lies, damn lies and statistics".

OK, I'll bite springrain. Who are the other forces? The baby-eating Royal Family perhaps?

No, I don't think so, though they are certainly related and play their part. I honestly don't think this topic should be treated with such flippancy. I'll close by asking folk to look at World History of the past 200 years as a starting point. Don't want to spoil anyone's Sunday evening - just to react to JJ's point. I thought JC's point was very apt.scobienz wrote: Oh god . here we go again.

Just to add, this is the most peaceful time in the history of our species.

You always do this springrain. You obliquely reference these mysterious forces and yet you never explain who you mean by them. What's the point of raising it if you want to keep it as a secret just to yourself?

I think springrain's posting suggests he is one of those people who sees false flag activity everywhere. People like that believe governments and intelligence agencies are doing all this and setting up Muslims. They also tend to believe the world is flat, chem trails are ruining the world, and the British royal family are lizards.

I promise I don't want to keep it to myself - that's why I say contentious things and I am grateful to the forum for allowing me to do this. I think a number of posters know what I'm talking about. I just don't want to upset any readers/posters. I can cope with being laughed at, but at least I read David Irving's biography of Churchill and have tried to trace the origins of certain races and related folklore.scobienz wrote:You always do this springrain. If your forum will allow me to state what I reckon to be the truth about what's going on then I will. But that is going to upset some forum contributors. I'll cope with that,
It's a nasty, messed up world and I'd like to put out what is (I think, at any rate) wrong. To heck with any ridicule that may ensue. Debate, yes, that would be as cool as a chocolate-flavoured iceberg.
Deal? It'd just be about a fool's conceptions, so they may well be laughed at. Then you can ban or confine me to the dustbin of past contributors.
(Vi, I do see these false operations everywhere - because (I think) they are everywhere. It is easy to become a bit mad - perhaps that is the case - but all is false in our perceptions & they think that 'all is foul and fair,' which I do not.)

Go for it springrain. I'd genuinely love to hear your views and there is absolutely no way you're going to get banned for expressing what might be an unusual worldview.springrain wrote:

I'm amazed how many deaths there were in 1972, and I presume most were in Northern Ireland. Horrible times if you had to live through them.

don't let my comment put you off, springrain. I had a friend I tolerated (forgave) for a verrrrry long time with his alternative world views.scobienz wrote:Go for it springrain.
