Honestly, first 45 bought was Rock n Roll, part 2 (part 1 on the flip side) by, erm, his name eludes me for the moment ... Gary Gutter or something. First album bought was Transformer, Lou Reed.

I haven't had a turntable since I kicked the French girl out of the house & she threw it on the floor 20 years ago. I kept the vinyl though. I was shocked how much money I got for them too >$500 before I moved to SEA. I was equally shocked how little I got for my books too. I had a shitload of hardbacks in good shape & even some signed 1st Editions. I should've let Goodwill pick them up instead of lugging them around to used bookstores.

I had an opportunity to buy 500 pristine albums for $300 one day and needed the wife to transfer some cash into the right account to be able to withdraw the funds. 20 years ago. She was trying to impress her visiting friend and played stalling games which lost me the deal. It still fucking hurts.

Whenever I feel in a good mood for music I just listen to the scratches on the vinyl player

I appreciate the honesty. The Carpenters were brilliant, the Partridge Family make me cringe a bit though. Danny Bonaduce freaked me out, what the fuck was going on with him?chkwoot wrote:Probably one of these:
Not cool, I know. I was 8. And I was not cool.
But at least I'm being honest!

The first 45 I bought with my own money was The Beatles' Can't Buy Me Love in 1964. I wanted, I Want to Hold Your Hand, but the store was all out. My first 33 was Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida, 1968. I bought a copy in the States for Jun a few years back just so he'd play it for me in Zep, which he does, very late night after most have left so as not to drive away the hipsters.
I probably still have a few hundred vinyls sitting in the ex's attic back in the States.

Ive been waiting for Starving Pelican to admit his first record was One Direction but then I figured the only vinyl he will ever have seen is on his sofa in Singapore.

In about ten years he'll come back on here and admit that this was the first song his folks allowed him to download from iTunes.scobienz wrote:Ive been waiting for Starving Pelican to admit his first record was One Direction but then I figured the only vinyl he will ever have seen is on his sofa in Singapore.
