Prince is no more... RIP

Believe it or not, there is a whole other world outside of Cambodia and South East Asia, be it people or politics, frustrations or football, this is the place to talk about it.

They've all been from the "baby boomer" generation so expect it to continue for some time.

In my grandads day you had to be on TV and movies to be famous.

Thousands of people out in the street out side of First Avenue, the nightclub where Purple rain was filmed.

Hey God! Give us Prince back and take Bieber, you cunt!

RIP, incredible artist and personality, made quite a few people's top guitarist list.

Bugger. My son turned me on to Prince when he was five. We had the hot young baby sitter who loved him as well. They used to listen to his records together, so many great songs.

Edited for clarity.

I remember my dad saying that exact thing back then, although he never used such profanity, as Prince had just gone platinum.

Went off him when he started to think he was god (Prince not my dad), changing his name to a symbol etc.

His music was OK but he's not done anything for years.

I believe there was another reason why he changed his name and he did do a sell out concert just last week. He wrote, produced and practically mastered over 25? instruments, yea right, 'his music was OK'.
There's a lot coming out now about his 'quiet' achievements which are amazing, respect, everybody that was close to him can't speak highly enough, the autopsy is in a few hours and I couldn't give a rats how he passed away, absolute legend.

agreed, RainMan

his adoption of the symbol was because he didn't like being controlled by the industry. he stuck two fingers (and a name) up at them. A unique guy that wasn't going to be tied down by the establishment. Incredible talent.

The song 'Nothing Compared to You' sung by Sineed O'conner was written by Prince, many others. Hope he left us more unpublished works, all shall be revealed.

He talked to her (O'connor)/about interviews she was doing and told her to stop saying bad things and she told him to "fuck off" than ran off because he went mental!

Prince denies the conversation took place if course. O'Connor said she was pissed off he summoned her to his house.

In fact I don't think I've ever seem them interviewed together.

Don't know YTP, but from what I interpret from that is it seems he asked her over to chat face to face instead of mud slinging publicly, whatever, probably why he shunned interviews.

Yes he was one of the greats but it doesn't mean that everyone has to go all silly and overblow his achievments, some are just attention whoring.

That sellout concert was the Aotea Centre NZ (2000 seating). Hardly Wembley or Madison Sq Gardens eh.

Like I said. He's of the past and his songs we like can still be enjoyed the same as when he was alive.

Every time a celeb dies everyone goes ape shit to try and out do one another in their knowledge of said star or posting YouTube links of songs everyone knows.

Some kid dies in a hotel and we get a few comments. This thread will go on and on and get more cringworthy.
