The Greatest has died. RIP
In the 90s, Ali left the Black Supremacist Nation of Islam and became an orthodox Muslim. One would assume his attitudes changed, but he didn't give many interviews then or later.

Nobody's going to remember Keith Richards as a teetotaler.Rolling Stone Keith Richards gives up alcohol
Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones guitarist and wild man of rock-and-roll, has given up alcohol, it has been reported...
The stuff a celebrity does in his twenties stays with him like a Florida criminal record.
Someone said Donal Trump would have hated Ali because he was a Muslim.vladimir wrote:Damage control by right-wing nutters.Just Robbed wrote:Read article about how Joe Frasier didn't have time for Ali for a long time. Seems they were friends back in the 60's and Frasier helped him out. Then Ali changed and started referring to him as a house Negro, uncle Tom etc. Now Piers Morgan is in trouble for bringing up Ali's views on race - there's an interview with Parkinson where Ali talks about races marrying only into that race. Hmmm.
This was never raised when Ali was here and could refute it, the scum of the earth is predictable.
Your bringing it up is questionable, at best.
Morgan just said Ali was more racist than trump, and that they were friends and Ali attended his last wedding.
It was just the truth, and I'm sure it was only brought up at such an inconvenient time because of Trump haters.

Let's have a look at the Michael Parkinson interviews with Ali and make up our own minds. Apparently, there were four of them. Some newspaper 'guides' here: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/peopl ... 67656.html
and here: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/wa ... ad-8120706
But here's the 1971 interview, part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3 of the same?"
I think this is Part 3 of a later interview (though it says 1971 on YT):
Other bits to follow, unless another poster finds better vids, hope so!
Part 4:
Things do get a bit tetchy at the end of this one. I think I'm messing it up! But I have tried. I only see a warm, funny human being. If anyone can post up the stuff where he seems otherwise, please do it. In my own studies, I have found that there has been a 'whitewash' of History. Please show me if I have thought wrong. Thanks, all.

Wayne Gretzky? Come on, back at you. Famous on one continent but I doubt most people in the rest of the world would even know what sport he played, let alone be able to recognise him.
Wow, seriously? Maybe he isn't a household name in Britain or Australia but you don't think anyone from Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czeck Rep, Slovakia, etc ever heard of Wayne Gretzky? Check the records, Gretzky was one of the most dominate player in any sport.
No disrespect to Ali, he was a great fighter, but I did find some of his decision wins questionable.

Seasquatch, I think DM mentioned this before. He (Wayne Gretzky) is well known in countries that follow that sport - cool! I think Harold Larwood was a true champion; also, Ian T. Botham and Shane Warne - ever heard of them? I guess not. But everyone knows Muhammad Ali & Pele!

The sad thing is, if Ali was in his prime today he'd be destroyed.
Think Fury, Naseem Hamed, McGregor, etc.

He was robbed of his 'prime' because of his refusal to fight in 'Nam. You should research more, finy.finy wrote:The sad thing is, if Ali was in his prime today he'd be destroyed.

Springrain - apparently he said blacks entering into mixed marriages should be killed.
Maybe everything was washed under the rug, but it doesn't matter anyway. It was a different era, and I'm guessing he seen a lot of things.
Also, in regards to your last comment, I meant the loudmouth arrogant attitude.

finy, can you show us that comment, mate? I also made a somewhat arrogant comment - sorry if you have researched enough. I'll retract it if you can show us the comment Ali made as per the above.finy wrote:Springrain - apparently he said blacks entering into mixed marriages should be killed.

I don't know how to do that, finy. Could you put it for us? To me, twitter feed is Joey's bird seeds. And who the heck is Piers Morgan? is he the chap who tried to bat against Brett Lee?

Be arrogant all you want, it makes the banter more interesting.
But I was speaking about sportsmen being arrogant these days.
Take Cristiano Ronaldo, for example. He was a hundred times better than Pele (even Brazilian Ronaldo was), but people hate him because he loves himself.
I don't know of a single guy getting away with it these days like Ali did.
People love guys like Bolt and Farah because they're humble.

I can't post pics because my internet is slow, but go on Twitter.com and type Piers Morgan into the search box.
He will be the smug fat guy with millions of followers.
Then just read his feed.
Yeah, I think an Aussie cricketer gave him a few broken ribs.
