The British girls winning the hockey last night was an awesome performance. We finally break out penalty shoot out jinx.
But the sight of the Olympics for me so far - seeing Bolt take the baton in the 4x100m final and seeing him just stream ahead like he was taking an afternoon jog.

Good old team GB has/have been great! I love sport, but dislike elitism, so I am glad that Team GB have/has done well. I am pleased to revel in the Team's great performance, but hang my head in shame at what some elements of the British Empire have done.
To sum up, I am chuffed at the great sporting achievements, but disappointed at what human cost has been incurred in the building of so-called Empire - even if Playboys thinks I am a t**t! I do not have a particularly high opinion of him, either.

Was she really unlucky Jamie - or are you just being kind?Jamie_Lambo wrote:She lost 6-1 against one of the favourites, she fought well was just unlucky reallyYaTingPom wrote:Can you post the result Jamie, I'm watching Adelaide bum Port Adelaide.

I don't really appreciate all the rules of the sport but I thought other girl seemed to be in control.
I know she got picked off a bit near the end when she had to come forward chasing points.
The lad Muhhamad losing with just 1 second on the clock was a bit of a gutter last night. Fair does to the African kid that won though.
Skelton's gold was awesome, especially after breaking his neck and his horse coming back from injury, awesome horse.
The GB hockey was touch and go but luckily we are shit hot at penalty shootouts, having beat the Dutch 3 times on them this year. Top keeper.
And more gold, up to 25 golds (handed out on plates) now.

Don't revel in their performance too much, mate.springrain wrote:Good old team GB has/have been great! I love sport, but dislike elitism, so I am glad that Team GB have/has done well. They don't give a shit about you, it's all about their medals.
I do find it weird when people are so emotionally involved in sport.
It's more when it doesn't involve representing the country, but that is even still strange.
I wonder if people who love the Olympic athletes care about the Eurovision song contact.
I hope the real pride comes from knowing your country is better than nearly every other depending on where you're from.

what has people being patriotic during the Olympics got to do with the Eurovision?
but just so you know It is one of the most watched non-sporting events in the world, with audience figures in recent years have been between 100 million and 600 million...
People who are passionate about the Olympics possibly have a passion about sports, some dont, i know many sporting people that dont watch the Olympics, for me its exciting to watch, i dont know if you took much notice of my GOTD thread but i watch all countries in most events,
what is weird about people getting so emotionally involved in sport? do you do/did any sports?

Dude, that isn't what I said.
I said you can be passionate about the country, but not the athletes.
The hot ones are an exception.
Or you can be passionate about them as long as you know they don't really care about you.
I'm known to partake in a few sports/hobbies.
