Our information is getting better. We can have live Tweets and video streams of fucked up events occurring as said events are taking place.
Ray Kurzweil, a guy I like who is a "futurist" has an interesting article about this.
"But ultimately, we’ll have full-immersion virtual reality from within the nervous system, augmented reality". --- The article also touches on how a lot of human conflict must be caused by us being cramped into cities. We are starting to have population problems, yet, take a train ride across the U.S. and see all the empty land, true for other parts of the world as well. Humans don't want to live out in the Boondocks/rural parts with no work and no play. So we settle for cities or at best, close by suburbs.
Either way, I found this interesting.

I have often wondered about that and i just dont agree, newspapers covered everything back when i was a kid, just not as fast
there just weren't as many people mad at the world than.
or better drive, especially down south or in the mid west, small towns with half of main street closed down
not sure about the rest of the world thou as u dont see this in Asia.

"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
Brexits, planes going missing, suicide bombings and postal shootings in Europe, failed coups in Turkey, they are all old news. We just haven't been tweeting enough. Duh!
Bless

Yeah, but reliance was on the journalist's take of the event, and whether the editor wanted the story. Nowadays, everyone is a journalist and cameraman!Phuket2006 wrote:I have often wondered about that and i just dont agree, newspapers covered everything back when i was a kid, just not as fast

doubt there were any Americans living in japan at the timeali baba wrote:How many American journalists covered the bombing of Hiroshima with an on the ground report?
Compare that to Aljazeera's live coverage of the invasion of Iraq.
where as there were many arabs living in Iraq
what about Vietnam, the first war that was brought to you live on TV at ur dinner table?
reporting has changed, still the world was and is fucked up

Dont think that they would have gotten visas at that timeali baba wrote:I didn't ask about Americans living in Japan. I asked about journalists covering the bombing and its aftermath from Japan.
did ANY journalist (beside Japanese) cover it from the ground
unlike covering the Iraq war
