Indonesia prepares another round of executions this week
It's looking likely another fourteen people will be executed in Indonesia this week, including one woman.

The obligatory 72 hours notice has been given to the condemned. The roster includes four Nigerians, a Zimbabwean, an Indian, a couple of other Africans, a female Indonesian domestic worker and a Pakistani (below) who was yesterday removed from hospital (where he has been being treated for the last two months) to the execution island.

(rekon they got all the whiteys out of the way first so that there'd be less international outcry for future exectutions?)

On your first point, absolutely right.
I don't agree on the second. There are still a bunch of whiteys on death row, including the French guy who got a late reprieve last time round, the English granny, another English dude and an American guy. I suspect this round of African and Asians is an attempt to somehow 'normalise' these routine batches so that as and when the next round come, they can slip a couple of white faces in, including Sandiford.
Good. They are criminal scum. Let them die.

Several of their convictions are very suspect, including allegations of confessions through torture, evidence against them (in the case of the Pakistani guy) being retracted by his Indian partner due to die at his side.
But, yeah, let them die. We can always fix it later.

I think you might be right with your second observation Alan.
Although necessary, there does seem something all together wrong to transfer a man, who is being treated in hospital, by ambulance to his arranged death.

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.
If they are getting executed for buying and selling harmful products, then it is plain murder. Well not just plain murder, it is plain murder laced with ignorance and pure hypocrisy.
Prohibition is far more harmful than all drugs combined.

Yes, the UN might "express alarm" over drug traffickers being executed but the Indonesian perpetrators of the mass killings of the 1960s walk freely. It's a strange world...

I haven't really looked into the individual cases, but I'd imagine most are just mules rather than anyone up the chain. They might have been aware of the risks but probably weren't all the clued-in. You have to be either nuts, coerced or really desperate to try and smuggle drugs through any country in this region.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I agree with LL, you would have to be stupid, desperate or incredibly naive, none of which are grounds for execution.

The sentences in this part of the world are about as heavy as they get. Some countries have mandatory death-penalties, others just lock you up forever.

In other words, unfit for this world. Let them die.Lucky Lucan wrote:I haven't really looked into the individual cases, but I'd imagine most are just mules rather than anyone up the chain.
