Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Reading up on the testimony and interviews from UN human rights lead investigator is what led me to shifting my views.Lucky Lucan wrote:There was a video - didn't you see it? “…indicating that REBEL forces have used the nerve agent sarin…” (emphasis added)
“…there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated,"
So while I admit the video did raise my suspicions, I personally believe gas could very well have been used it this attack, only not by who everyone is blaming.

Some type of lethal, weaponized gas was used but what evidence is there that it was sarin? The fact that the doctors had their skin exposed while handling the bodies would seem to suggest that sarin was not the gas that was used.

Sorry, but tear gas is routinely used by police worldwide to break up dangerous rioting. Maybe rioters looting and assaulting locals can be convinced with kind words and candy to stop attacking others?Negan Jones wrote:Tear gas is internationally banned in warfare ,yet the US police use it on their civilian population.
Please don't confuse sarin and vx in the same category as tear gas.
Don't worry, be happy.
You are caught up on the "why now?" part. But Assad has used it before so why not again? Why not now? He's gotten away with it before. That's what the whole Obama "any chemical weapons use by Assad would cross a red-line" controversy was all about.AE86 wrote:The rebels are on the backfoot, and that gets to the core of my point. Assad isn't losing, so to say his move was out of desperation also makes no sense.
The rebels being on the back foot is a long, long way from ensuring an Assad regime victory. The odds of the rebels completely defeating the government were were always remote, despite their success in large outlying areas where the government was never popular anyway.

It's almost like 45 himself made certain issues central to his campaign, that continue to play out through EOs and his own cabinet. Ones some pretend does not exist (it's more pleasant that way) and others (like you) deny and/or act as apologists for.Edwardo wrote:No need. You promised to ignore me after I wouldn't be baited into another But Hillary Clinton diversion. Instead you kept replying with smug comments about concerns that don't effect you. You switched tactics by embracing an ostensibly calm/reasonable tone when the former didn't get you the attention you sought.
Have a seat.
You are vladimir if vladimir had big knockers and no sense of humor.

Here is a conspiracy theory, for K440. For fun
Near earth asteroid passed by earth, at its closest approach something detached and landed on earth, the authorities at the landing site were ordered to destroy the object with all weapons available, this included chemical agents, there was collateral damage, the Americans are next sending a volley of 59 missiles, 23 hitting broken fighter jets as a cover story the other 35 were sent to finish off the object, 1 missile crashed. The Russians are next dropping audience from fighters.
I think this would have a better outcome than WW3.

...Always in my humble opinion...
I love all people, I just don't like them near me.

Also with Rex Tillerson coming out with a statement that regime change was not on the table, was a "nice shift" in foreign policy to his benefit, so immediately using gas on his people to bring international attention back to him again, makes no sense.Edwardo wrote: You are caught up on the "why now?" part. Of course I am focusing on "why now" because it is the entire reason so many people want to bomb the Syrian government in the first place. If they are not to blame, then there is obviously no reason to attack them.
However, the event is in the past, "only" a handful of people have died and the damage was minimal, so while I vehemently disagree with this move by Trump, the world is continuing to move on, so I'll focus my attention on the here and now...like where I'm going for lunch so I don't get food poisoning.

The Trump thread is awfully quiet but not for a lack of news. Wonder why...
Probably because nobody wants to read your usual boringly predictable spiel on that topic for the hundredth time so nobody wants to keep that topic alive. Plus the fact that there are 2 active North Korea threads and this Syria thread, which have dominated the headlines regarding this administration the past few weeks.Nirvana wrote:The Trump thread is awfully quiet but not for a lack of news. Don't flatter yourself. I don't care one bit about you, personally. But as many people on here have repeatedly told you, your constant hysterical wailing only serves to give the moderate Trump supporters cause to rally around him...which makes all like you the more immediate enemies to people who want him voted out of office.

@Nirvana
I just want to ask (and this is a genuine question, not a snarky rhetorical question), why does the whole Trump train enrage you so much more something else like nuclear war which could end the lives of millions of people? While I tend to believe the "end of the world" scenario is exaggerated, the threats by Lil' Kim against South Korea, my country, and the U.S. could literally destroy people's lives in an instant. Something you could argue, is much more serious than grabbing a woman by the pussy and calling illegal Mexican's rapists.
Again, genuine question, and I'm not trying to be snarky in any way, and for the record, ALL of my step family that lives in the U.S. voted Democrat.

The fact that you felt the need to publicly state your family's private voting preference "for the record" for fear of being labelled one negative thing or another speaks volumes about the sad nature of political discourse to be expected.AE86 wrote: and for the record, ALL of my step family that lives in the U.S. voted Democrat.
