Prompted by Mr Felgerkarb's post about ATMs in Cambodia, it's worth pointing out that this week, marks the first anniversary of the first ATM in the world, introduced by Barclays in the UK in 1967.

It's worth pointing out that for many people, ATMs were their first ever experience of automation, first experience of 'self-service' anything, and certainly their first experience of engaging with a computerised system by pressing buttons.
I'm sure some members remember an ATM-less Cambodia. When I first arrived in Cambodia there was only one - the Canadia Bank ATM at the top of the escalator in Sorya Mall. Today, they are ubiquitous of course.
