Exploding Samsung phone
Exploding Samsung phone
Not sure when this was recorded. It just today made the rounds on news reports and was posted on youtube and liveleak. Doesn't say if this was the old, recalled model phone (long banned on airplanes) or a newer phone with the same problem. Could be a cheap counterfeit Samsung copy or a sketchy knock-off replacement battery.
He's lucky it was in his loose shirt pocket and not in his pants pocket. Ouch.

So it basically could be any phone or even a e cig or why not a battery bank.
Either way why start a thread about it?

Sure. What K440 needs is fewer threads. All of you can get back to discussing cheese now. Well done.YaTingPom wrote:So it basically could be any phone or even a e cig or why not a battery bank.

Whenever you see that Meo Den has added the last post to a thread, you can usually guarantee it is either a cat meme or a 4000 word cut and paste from some obscure medical journal about syphillis.

I tend to go with Edwardo here: cheap counterfeit battery. Duos were sold a lot and if this happens frequently we would probably heard about it.violet wrote:It is the 2nd samsung device to be such a threat, along with the samsung galaxy note 7

Fair enough the galaxy note 7...are you saying internationally that was the issue? And why these two devices and not other samsungs?

What precautions should I take to avoid dying or being severely injured by a battery? Why do the batteries explode? What is the scientific explanation?
Thanks,
Harold

Keep it in a fridge.Harold wrote:What precautions should I take to avoid dying or being severely injured by a battery? Why do the batteries explode? What is the scientific explanation?

Use it for less than 2 minutes at a time then put it back in the fridge. Only charge it once a month.
That should keep you pretty safe.
Alternatively, copy and paste your questions into google. That’s most likely what anybody who answers your questions will have done.
