Hong Kong Protests
It's daft to go via HK. You are adding hours to the trip. Why not go with Qatar or Emirates via Doha or Dubai, or Malaysian via KL. All of them would be much quicker and if you're a CX member then you get the points and can use the Oneworld lounges there.

Have you considered flying without stuffing your suitcases full of drugs?
Is that allowed ? K440 rules state no talk about drugs. Does Rob really stuff suitcases full of drugs? I think you just made that up Mr. Del mate.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:59 pmRobW wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:46 pmThey take a very dim view of opiates.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:45 pmIt's daft to go via HK. Rob might be dumb. but he's not stupid.
It is merely personal requirements these days but I'd rather argue the toss in front of a Hong Kong judge than one with a dishdasha on his head.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:59 pmRobW wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:46 pmThey take a very dim view of opiates.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:45 pmIt's daft to go via HK. A man must choose his jurisdiction. This much I know.
Wise words. KLM are a good option too, i believe.

Bad attempt at ad hominem, your favourite card.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 12:23 pmOnce again you combine a failure to read with a ridiculous misunderstanding of history. Many HKrs themselves lament the fact they didn’t build democratic institutions like proper elections. I’m guessing you have never spent any time there.
Ah, yes, I forgot, only dyed-in-the-wool Tories truly understand history and read with comprehension. I mean look at Brexit, the plan is supremely elaborate, only a Tory genius could devise such a Machiavellian scheme, it's brilliant...
So I need to live somewhere before I can comment on it? What kind of Trumpesque logic...?
Blaming it on HKers is nice, when in reality the UK also passed up opportunities to ensure it in HK...but to expect a foundation of colonisation to grow true democracy, laughable.
I guess anybody who criticises the UK Saudi-bedding thieves ' doesn't understand', anybody who calls them out has a ' ridiculous understanding' of history, simply because it's an uncomfortable truth. They've pillaged, and are irritable because they didn''t see this coming, and now they're berating the Chinese in HK for learning too well from them? Nice.
The Chinese are racist.? Yes, I guess some are. Good thing the Brits never fell prey to that evil, right?
The Brits colonised so many nations for purely philanthropic reasons, The Opium Wars, The Boer War, the long list of egregious violence...it was all a clever disguise, but underneath lurked a humanitarian master-plan...
Yeah, right. And then when the colony changes hands, all of a sudden the locals must have ethics
Do as we say not do as we do?
You're funny, really.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
I lost interest in your reply when it spun off into various irrelevant directions a few lines in vlad. I’m not sure what Saudi Arabia and the Tories have to do with anything, except ranting about them seems to be your stock in trade response to every issue you don’t really understand.
Anyway, carry on. I don’t really care enough about HK to debate it.

It will be the quickest flight I've ever gotten from PNH to DUB with only one short stop in HKG. Maybe it's different for mainland UK, but Dublin has a relatively small airport so there aren't any direct flights between PNH/BKK and there.Dallow Spicer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:45 pmIt's daft to go via HK. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Looking at it I might be better flying to Dublin then getting a Flybe to Newquay, which is where I'm heading.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 11:44 amIt will be the quickest flight I've ever gotten from PNH to DUB with only one short stop in HKG. Never been to Ireland. Do they have Guinness in the airport?
As for the HK protests, haven't read it but vladimir is bound to be wrong.

Might even have a stop over and see what James Joyce and all you other bogtrotters are always going on about.
I was forced to read the tortuous Ulysses as a boy after all.
I’m not saying vlad is wrong, but he tends to over simplify and see things in black and white. My view that HKers wasted their chance to build democracy or at least something that looked at it is one shared by numerous political commentators and civic leaders in HK, or at least it was in when the negotiations were happening between China and the Uk in the early 1990s. I know because I interviewed many of them - HK and it’s political development was the subject of my post-grad thesis back in 82.
It’s also something I heard regularly from locals when I lived there for a few years much more recently, although admittedly those were the views of a generation later.
