Ashes 2019
Yikes, hopefully rain will force the draw as no way Eng. can reach their target.
"Not my circus, not my monkeys" - KiR
Gone a bit quiet, this thread!
Forecast is for rain clearing to cloudy day with the odd shower, so will Eng. have a crack? The pitch is a mess and they’ll struggle to keep Lyon out if they play for a draw.
Not a fan of our sandpaper cunts but you have to give it to Smith, the guy is a freak!

You do have to give a lot of credit to Australia and Smith in particular.
How England have rued Jimmy Anderson's absence and how well Australia have taken advantage of it.
Can the more mature Stokes make a difference - at the moment (97-6) he is the only one left capable of showing any adaptation, common sense and application.
**EDIT***
And he's just gone to a beaut from Lyon.
That's another difference between the teams - Moeen Ali is shot - can't bowl and neither can he bat, at the moment.
Time for Jack Leach to come in?

A very good start for Australia at the 'Home of Cricket'.
Hazelwood has bowled imperiously to reduce England to 76-2 at lunch.
But Burns & Denly have surprised a few (including myself) by showing a bit of fight.
The other Aussie bowlers haven't really stepped up to Josh Hazelwood's start, yet. ('Yet' being the operative word.)
All set up for another great test, even if it is reduced to just the 4 days!

Australia beat up the All Blacks last week, by 21 points.
I challenge anyone here, regardless, of that super unnatural result it wont happen on Saturday, Eden Park. ..I lost money last week, ..but will get back
All Blacks will wipe them off the park, win by 15. sure sure~*sorery wrong sport topic)

(I agree about Jep, though. He needs help and to stop risking money on daft odds; sport is fun, but not something to gamble heavily on.)
Just enjoy the sport!

It looks pretty bad for Steven Smith at the moment. Hope he's OK!
Archer to Smith, no run, oh dear! He's been clattered here by the short ball. He's down. This is nasty. The medics are out there straightaway, from both sides, and the England players have immediately gone to Smith. These are not scenes you want to see. Smith is lying on his back in the crease as he gets seen to by medical staff. Everyone will take the utmost care here with Smith. He's standing up again. He looks dazed. Talking to the doctor now. Will be going through concussion tests.
A few seconds later:
Looks as though he's retiring hurt. Smith walks off Lord's to warm applause.
Hope the best batsman of our modern era is going to be alright.
***Update***
Not only is he fine, he's coming out to bat again!
Sensational!

This could be really meaningful for the rest of the series:
"In terms of Steve's availability for the third Test, this will be considered over the coming days but the short turnaround to the next Test is not in his favour. Steve's fitness will be assessed on an ongoing basis.
Hope Steven is Okay.
Questions arise:
If Jimmy Anderson is fit for Headingly, whom will he replace? Archer? Come on.
I reckon England can still win this game. But, who knows?
Test Cricket is King!

Apparently Smith still can't remember the names of his own children. He's also forgotten that he's a cheating convict cunt, so it's not all bad news. He sadly won't be playing on Thursday. Happy Christmas Steve!springrain wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 6:32 pmThis could be really meaningful for the rest of the series:

Archer will be head hunting in Yorkshire this weekend. Obviously I would like to see Warner visiting ER next but i'm not fussy.

If there's one place where you want to bowl first, it's Headingly on an overcast morning.
England win the toss and put Australia in.
I honestly don't think their innings will last 90 overs.
