And if it isn't the Gibbon, whose better half, it could be said, might well make an excellent batswoman, given her eyes face in 2 opposing directions. Still visiting the Himawari, oh fan of hashes and the odd bit of baiting from an online thesaurus?

Let the gibbon be.
Anyway, both Smith and Anderson back for next meet hopefully. Good stuff that.

Its totally wrong how England won the World cup and the Ashes.
Fake umpiring. was the only winner. I give a hoot!

Can't we just celebrate great cricket and acknowledge that mistakes were made by the umpires?
Yes, mistakes were made, but there was still great cricket played.
Not many players would have been able to pull off such great feats, in spite of the poor umpiring.
I don't think it's 'totally wrong', but 'it' does require some looking into.
And, Jep, England haven't 'won' the Ashes, yet.
There is still a lot to play for.
That is why this is such a great series.
Thanks, 'Baggy Green' poster for your contribution, mate!
May you enjoy this splendid series and 'Good Luck' to you, mate.

It looks like we won't be seeing Anderson v Smith after all.
Surely, that must mean the end of Jimmy's International career.

Yeah shame about Jimmy, I think it could be the end.
News just in. Denly to open, Roy dropping down to 4.
Makes sense within the players that have been selected but clearly not a long term solution. I'd think that their joint average will increase with the switch

What a run machine! Even when he gets out, it's to a no-ball - until the real damage has been done.
Australia can't lose this test now, one would have thought, so England have to battle to try to take the series to the Oval for a decider.

Well done, Australia!
You beat us in England - on our own patch.
A superior bowling attack.
And a chap called Steven Smith, one of the greats.
Let's have a beer!

An enjoyable series and Australia deserved their win. A shame we couldn't manage the draw yesterday and have a belter of a finale at the Oval.

Ashes to ashes punk to funky.,we know SS is a sandpaper junkie...
Springer bro..what did he average with the bat 120 odd ?
.them comparing him to the Greatest Batsman Bradman is not on.
It was a different era.
Great same same ,
but
different.

Currently, he has scored 671 runs in 5 innings, so he is averaging 134.2 for the series.
In my view, Bradman is totally unique and I don't think there's any point in making comparisons.
As all cricket fans know, The Don was no stranger to controversy himself. But, as you say, it was a different era - uncovered pitches and so on, so comparisons are superfluous.
As far as I know, Mr Bradman was never a cheat, so whatever we might think about him as a person or an administrator, his record as a player is exemplary.
For all his great batting, Mr Smith's reputation will always be tainted by that episode. Rightly so.

I'm not so sure, Jep, mate. By the we-must-win-at-all-costs patriotic elements, perhaps. But not by the real cricket fans.
Why have so few of the Aussies posted on this thread? Real sports fans like chubacca and others? I guess it might be (just a guess) because thy are probably disgusted at the way Davie Warner & Smithy have been shoe-horned into this series.
Smith is 30. He should have learnt the lesson that cheats don't prosper while still at school.
I like D Warner. He wears a smile and tries to pacify the crowds.
He comes across as a bit daft, but I think he has shown genuine repentance.
I dunno; just a few opinions.
