He played alongside as well as backing stars such as Tommy Steele, Marty Wild, Laurie London, Cliff Richard, Adam Faith, Billy Fury, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Gigli, Paul Robeson and many others.
It's always the quiet ones who have the greatest influence and are easily forgotten.

I read that Guitar Slim was using distortion on guitar long before Hendrix.
Interesting short life. Ran away from home, and often came on stage with brightly coloured hair, sat on the shoulders of a large set man whilst playing guitar, followed by a walk into the audience with his 300ft guitar cable entow behind him (something which Albert Collins became known for).
Died of alcoholism related symptoms in his early thirties.
Expat 0.5.

Bert Weedon was a genius.
Just about every wannabe guitarist in the 50s and 60s bought his "Play in a day" book.
In one day, I learnt to play the basics of Tom Dooley on the Ford Cortina of guitars, the Selmer 222 that I bought for £8. (a weeks wages).
I can still play that today and have never forgotten the chords.
Weedon, if you can teach me the basics (I am tone deaf) you are a true genius.

Sleep, those little slices of death — how I loathe them.

How about that Tork fella from the Monkees? I couldn't believe it when my wife told me he was dead.
Then I saw her face.
Then I saw her face.

Jimi took the guitar to his mouth and changed the way a guitar can be played, used and abused it like a Champ. He was experienced.
