Most people I know also not complying with lockdown too. Although they don't work for the government and haven't been telling people to stay home for the last 3 months

Obviously not.
"Mr Johnson’s approval also turned negative as the corona virus scandal continued. it dropped from +19 per cent to -1 per cent since Friday, the same data showed."
And you can be pretty sure the public are not only pissed about that. It's just the straw that broke the camel's back.
The Tories are dead meat.
I've had a word with Jeremy, and he's willing to forgive you all and lead the country properly. Although, he says that Johnson has fucked up so badly over Brexit and the Corona virus, all he can do is mitigate the mess by taxing the top quantile at 105%. He's such a noble patriot don't you think?
It's OK he says, you don't need to thank him.
Up the workers!
True, but it makes the whole one rule for us and another for them argument a bit weak.ReasonstobefearfulP3 wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 9:05 amMost people I know also not complying with lockdown too. Either way it’s all pretty fucking shoddy. I saw the Cummings interview, and it had more holes in it than an US classroom.
But more importantly, when 40 tory MPs, including cabinet members are demanding you get fired, you get fired.

I forgot about this thread. The Tories and their supporters have caused so much damage to the UK in a few short years. There are millions of British who have to choose between food and warmth this winter and they are the lucky ones.
Anyone who ever supported Boris Johnson should be ashamed of themselves.

I can't believe I agree with Harold but that's what happens when you have a populist Trump wannabe clown running the circus for too many years.Harold wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 8:40 pmI forgot about this thread. And I can't believe I'm agreeing with logos and Harold.
The British public have long been susceptible to bright shiny baubles, and Johnson is the political manifestation of that. It didn't matter that he was and remains a charlatan, a serial liar and a grotesquely corrupt amoral opportunitist, without a single political principle in his body, except for that which he calculates will further his career. All the British voter saw was tousle-headed Boris, a loveable rogue.
They deserve the consequences.

Rubbish, if anything Borris became their acceptable face by being Billy Bunter. What lay beneath all that bluff was the simple fact they were shit scared a Socialist would get in and build houses. They were protecting the massive equity 40 years of supply destruction by non house building Tories had caused. The one that turned them into little Tories. That is the sole reason the Tories got in, and why even middle class professionals can't easily afford to buy a home, today.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:37 pmAnd I can't believe I'm agreeing with logos and Harold.

1. Full land registry
2. Compulsory purchase land from the 0.01%
3. Massive social house building project to supply 10 million homes by 2030
The British working class have always been reactionary Tories, even while voting for Labour election after election, "because me dad and granddad" voted Labour. Read EP Thompson's History of the English Working Class on this. There has always been a nationalistic, anti-immigrant part of the working class psyche - especially in traditional Labour strongholds in the North.
Two things helped turn them into Conservative voters: Tory strategists recognised this phenomena (and dubbed it Workington Man) and leveraged it during the Brexit debate, and Labour voted in the wrong Miliband brother as Leader, thus paving the way for Corbyn a couple of years later.

It truly baffles me how quickly people have forgotten that the Conservative Party’s official position during the referendum, was to recommend voting Remain.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:11 pmTory strategists recognised this phenomena (and dubbed it Workington Man) and leveraged it during the Brexit debate
They’re all now pretending that never happened, and we’re going along with it.
Two things happened to the two groups of Remain-backing Conservative MPs. There were those who backed Remain, but immediately changed their mind to stay in with Johnson after he became leader - the abhorrent ghouls like Liz Truss are an example.nerdlinger wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:44 pmIt truly baffles me how quickly people have forgotten that the Conservative Party’s official position during the referendum, was to recommend voting Remain.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:11 pmTory strategists recognised this phenomena (and dubbed it Workington Man) and leveraged it during the Brexit debate

And there were the principled Conservatives who backed Remain, remained as Remain after the result and either resigned or were kicked out by the party as it lurched to the inevitable nationalist right. That includes the likes of Hammond, Ken Clarke, BJ's brother Jo etc.
Both happenings will result in the banishment of the current iteration of the Tories to electoral oblivion for the next 20 years.
