Absolutely right Harold. Thanks for pointing my error out.

Maybe my phrase "doesn't believe in science" was a bit loose. "Does't see the imporatance" is probably more correct.Harold wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 6:32 pmWhat has Trump said or done that makes you believe that he "doesn't believe in science"?chubacca wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 6:18 am^^ the reason for this is that the CDC haven't been able to get the kits out as there was a test kit manufacturing issue. The other issue is that in the US - therea re only 12 labs in just 5 states that have the ability to do the test! So a mixuture of complete ineptness, unclear policy, chronic underfunding and no foresight! But, if you elect a person who doesn't believe in science, that's what you get!
But, I encourage those of you who have rose tinted glasses toward Trump, read this non-biased piece(scientific at that) that elegantly shows that he doesn't see the importance of science - and that will likely to his detriment politically (some telling graphs!)

I did once use it in the company of one of only two black friends I have and he was visibly upset.
The next day I took a bottle of his favourite overproof Jamaican rum to his house and apologised and he said, if you buy me a bottle once a week you can call me nagger every day.
" I have black friends".
Easily assuaged aren't they. I even gave him a pat on his little fuzzy head. He was terrible grateful.

Doubtful. He's one of those long term expats completely obsessed with the politics of his home country, who whittles down complex matters into one whole "me good, them bad" conclusion. His arrogant posturing and long winded cut and pastes have the added effect of boring everybody to tears.
That's quite a lot of analysis where stoopid cunt angry at failure would succinctly suffice.Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:59 pmDoubtful. Just like all the Tory ministers, I have enough put aside to last this virus thing out. If we survive. I don't fancy your chances much in that air-conditioned nightmare of a concrete prison-zoo they call Singapore. Once it gets into those blocks it will spread rapidly. I'd be using all your money and power to get out. You obviously lack intelligence though as, just like the right-wing Americans, you haven't been following WHO or other health professionals advice but prefer attacking a sensible messenger's advice.. What I posted yesterday, is all over the papers today because that fucknut went ahead and did it: banned flights from Europe even though the scientific community told him not too.Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:59 pmDoubtful. I strongly disagree with Trump.

If Obama had been in the White House now, how much better (or if possible worse) would he have handled it?

Oh, fuck, you can’t even pretend that is a serious question.
For one thing, you would still have the whole top echelon of staff in the CDC that Trump sacked wholesale, and the CDC would not have had an edict that massively slashed its budget.
You would have had exponentially more test kits and a remaining — AND YOU WOULD STILL HAVE A PANDEMIC RESPONSE STRATEGY.
Trump got rid of exactly the team formed to deal with exactly this kind of infection, then replaced them — but with an entire tranche of people with zero experience of disease control.
