Bongs,
The wife and i are both working in Oi'land full time, doing skilled work, so rent cost is not really an issue, but still, rent costs are abit nuts in the major cities. Especially after you have been living in Cambodia.
Buying is probably not on the cards untill we know we are allowed to stay long term.
There's virtually nothing with regards to apartments. There's so much demand for renting property that there's very little that comes up. Apartment blocks are probably not in their culture. Here you have cottages converted into banks. It all looks better for it i guess.
I could buy a fixer upper house for what i pay in 5 years worth of rent.
Now, just a thought, but what if i befriended a farmer or something, and bought a caravan or static...

There are 26 other countries which vary from warmer to cheaper, offering an EU passport holder full heath and work rights.
Why did you choose Ireland?

It's quite similar to England, except maybe they eat more boiled bacon, and the sheep are better climbers.
Plus, i don't speak French.
How the fuck would i get on working in Italy or Germany i don't know.

It's a tricky one. There used to be loads of English (and local) "new-age traveler" types around the west of Ireland. I believe most of them bought cottages and land since. Some of these people might be amenable to your ideas. Others might just want someone trustworthy to watch over their property. I'm not sure where exactly you are basing yourself (Dublin, Belfast, Cork or Donegal!) but I know rental prices are ridiculous in Ireland now. Send me a PM and let me know what skills you have, I might be able to sort something out.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Are there no canals in the area.
Perhaps you could buy yourself a barge.

Psst. They don’t speak French in Italy or Germany, unless they’re French of course. Those fuckers get everywhere. Like the Australians of Europe.spitthedog wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 9:06 pmWhy wouldn't you choose Ireland?kungfufighter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 8:48 pmThere are 26 other countries which vary from warmer to cheaper, offering an EU passport holder full heath and work rights.
