Happy Paddy's zombie apocalypse Day
You will be celebrating with millions of Oi'rish in effective lockdown in their own homes. Even the Winchester is closed.
"Shall we invite uncle Seamus around"
"Na, fark that, he's over 70 and was coughing like a bastard, last time i saw him".
I got me a bottle of gin and tonic in. The bunker is well stocked with grains, pulses, and dried fruits. I could last 3 months with not going outside. Wearing a mask, when not taking sips of gin.

I, a proud English Gentleman, am currently celebrating Paddy's Day in Cambodia at a Chinky/ Hong Kong owned Bar, where they are having a Japanese appreciation evening of Sake and Sushi, being served by Khmers, under the supervision of a Sri Lankan and one overly hot Jap Lass that has not stopped smiling for a second in the last 30 minutes ...
Prior to my posting this, I was just chatting with a Pakistani friend in the US.
Later on, I will join a couple of British friends, a couple of Aussie acquaintances, one token Irishman, and possibly a Flipper, for a couple of beers ...

Ahhhhh, fantastic. That's the spirit. A chinky and a terrible hangover. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so they say.Playboy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 5:21 pmI, a proud English Gentleman, am currently celebrating Paddy's Day in Cambodia at a Chinky/ Hong Kong owned Bar, where they are having a Japanese appreciation evening of Sake and Sushi, being served by Khmers, under the supervision of a Sri Lankan and one overly hot Jap Lass that has not stopped smiling for a second in the last 30 minutes ...

I went in the office yesterday...well at least i tried to get in the office, but they had baricaded the door with a chair, to keep their distance from customers and filthy peasant workers.
I shit you not.

Being a Conspiracy Theorist Nutjob i'm wondering if we are all gonna end up having microchips fitted in the back of our heads, here in barangland. Think i might read 1984 under the covers today. Soothing. I was right all along see.
Still larfing, Mr Nasty Alan Clarke?
Hey, which is better? The complete clusterfuck Cambodian style, we couldn't give a fuck response to a disaster, OR
The UK's forced isolation, and evil we are closing all the pubs regime?
It's a tough call.
Anyway, happy Paddy's Day.
P.S Is the plural of Paddy, paddy's or paddie's?

The UK's forced isolation? I'm not aware of that, and I'm not sure if you realize that Ireland is a separate country from the UK and has had quite a different response to the crisis.spitthedog wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 5:44 pm

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Looks like forced isolation for the over 70's kicking in, in the UK.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 6:45 pmThe UK's forced isolation? Yeah, the pubs are still open in the UK.

It looks like Dublin is not at all as busy as usual but not exactly deserted either. I would never go to the Temple Bar (bar not area) but previous year's footage will show that area absolutely packed on march 17th with loads of green hats and whatnot. I'm from Dublin but grew to hate St Patrick's Day celebrations, just a ridiculous amount of teenagers and adults falling all over the place and puking/ having arguments etc.

Yeah, i guess i'm not really one for celebrating celebrations that you are expected to celebrate.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 8:29 pmIt looks like Dublin is not at all as busy as usual but not exactly deserted either. BUT would have enjoyed the craic in the pub nonetheless. The quiet pub was in good spirits Saturday.
I don't actually see many young people in the pubs anymore over here. I get the impression they are all living with their Mum's, and drinking cider indoors. Maybe they all go to the city though? Dunno.
I think the UK government is "suggesting" over 70's stay indoors, rather than forcing.
Gonna go into work coughing and spluttering tomorrow.
I see there's talk of "helicopter money" to support the UK economy. Hospitality sector must be struggling. Already too many struggling indebted restaurants/airlines/hotels to begin with.
Not one pub open in this town. Restaurants the same i think.
QE > ZIRP > Helicopter Money the natural progression ?

Both are likely true. An evening out in the pub, buying any large round could cost a bit. Rental prices in the cities are ridiculously high. Like $1500 for a room in a shabby shared house in a dodgy part of the city? Young and good-looking people tend to congregate in city areas, and if they have to they'll move on to greener pastures. They might be far away but that's never been an issue. Irish people are like Lebanese, you find them in every corner of the world.spitthedog wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 9:22 pmI don't actually see many young people in the pubs anymore over here. Went out. Didn’t drink any Irish alcohol.
Did a couple of jigs. Had to rest.
Wore my “Slante” t shirt, that only comes out this time o’year (because it’s too damn ‘tick”).
I miss Guinness, or Murphy’s.
