War breaking out in Armenia/Azerbaijan
I don’t know much, but have received a few messages from Armenia that martial law has been declared, and my Azerbaijani friend here says internet has been cut for her family in Baku. Clashes and skirmishes flair up every few years, and an eventual war has been inevitable... this one has the most initial feel of intensity that I’ve seen. Let’s see what happens...
(If anyone’s interested I can give background when I’m sober tomorrow.)

Migs,
So is the lack of internet the worst of it?
Also, are the clashes and skirmishes held at 2 metres apart from the enemy, with no longer than 15 minutes close quarter combat?

It is getting serious.
And just one of many similar border disputes around the globe in the coming months, I fear.

I know that this is in " the not Cambodia " bit but why is this of interest? They seem to have little punch ups every few years in the whole region. Do either countries have any resources such as oil or minerals that the world needs? Are they geographically important or have big connected friends who would join in to save them? I think it is just Migs showing off that he has friends who are from this part of the world!
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Baku was once the largest oilfield in the world. It still produces.
There is concern because it's got a lot of potential to escalate into a more dangerous conflict. Turkey will be supporting Azerbaijan but it's not clear to what extent. Turkey is also a member of NATO, so if Turkey gets hit then who knows.horace wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 7:56 pmI know that this is in " the not Cambodia " bit but why is this of interest? Armenia is a member of the CSTO (Russia's version on NATO) and indeed has a Russian military base on their soil. Russia is bound by treaty to come to the aid of Armenia if it comes to war.

Horace my man, why the hostility? Have you taken the Scobie purple pill or something? Me “showing off”? No, I’ve received messages from Armenia from scared friends that have have seen rockets shot over their houses and are being conscripted into the army as we speak. I have Azeri friends here scared for their families back home. I was sharing a piece of timely world information from sources on the ground. This is life and death. You share shit from travels wherever you are for the fuck sakes of it (I do enjoy by the way), but with all due respect Fuck You for this comment of yours.horace wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 7:56 pmI know that this is in " the not Cambodia " bit but why is this of interest?
