US Election 2020

Believe it or not, there is a whole other world outside of Cambodia and South East Asia, be it people or politics, frustrations or football, this is the place to talk about it.

US Election 2020

I thought the first 'debate' was a shambles.

I watched it live at 8AM our (Cambodian) time and I was hoping for an interesting debate on some key issues.

But it was a hopeless case of two people trying to fling mud and failing to address key issues.

I felt that the only 'winner' was the Fox TV host

Mr Trump was the worst offender, in that he constantly interrupted Mr Biden's attempts to speak.

But, Mr Biden was not without blame.

I wonder whether any 'hopeful' has ever told the President to 'Shut up, man!' before.

I was interested in the 'debate', but I felt a bit uneasy watching it.

What do/did the other forum members think?

Isn't a 77-year-old candidate just a smidgeon of a liability?

Thanks for your views.

It was the worst debate (if you could call it that), that I've ever watched in my life! Trump was a shocker, always played the man, but not unexpected. Biden tried, but seems very timid. A couple of punches laid by both, but it was hard to gain any understanding on any policies either of them have. Wallace was an abysmal moderator, and the reason for the debate to descend into this farce. 74 is close enough to 77, so in this scenario, I can't see the liability. The liability is that he looks like a bullied kid in the playground. I think Trump though played to his liability as a bully and will lose the female vote (of those how sit on the fence) after that display

Trump is not showing signs of dementia though. The presidency is really hard on people, they age 2 to 3 times faster than normal while in office. The exception being Trump who doesn't get stressed at all so he still looks there same as 4 years ago. Biden could very well be dead in 4 years or completely out of his mind with alzheimers.

Trump is a complete retard though who missed various easy goals.

Biden didn't show signs of dementia though. Trump behaviour showed he's demented

Biden is saying demented things all of the time. A few days ago he said he'd been a senator for 180 years, he didn't even notice.

People with alzheimers have good days and bad days. He has to hope he doesn't have a bad day when it's debate time.

Trump dominated Biden.

Biden belongs in a home (or street 178).

The debate was better then expected, entertainment wise.

Does Biden even have a platform apart from Orange man bad?

An American friend passed on these comments regarding the debate last night. It’s a very interesting observation that I don’t think many people realized.

1) Trump didn't try to win the debate.
2) Trump didn't try to energize his base (they don't need it)
3) Trump didn't try to get the undecided vote.

Trump's whole strategy was to split the Left.
1) That's why he made Joe talk about Law Enforcement.
2) That's why he challenged Joe about the Green New Deal.
3) That's why he made Joe refuse to answer the Supreme Court Packing question and whether he supports Bernie's Manifesto.

The Liberal Socialists represent at least 1/2 of Joe's voters.
Boy, are they pissed at Joe now.
Mission accomplished. Never saw that one coming.

Completely agree. And I think he did it well. Not trying to swing votes, just stop some of them voting for anyone

Are you sure they are Liberal Socialists? Maybe they are Anarchist Communists or Anti-Fascist Nazis?

You would be surprised how many US leftists call themselves anarcho-communists.

I wouldn't be, there are a whole lot of fucking idiots out there who identify as furry animals too, it doesn't mean it makes any more sense than a "Liberal Socialist" or a White Supremacist Democracy.

And those 'leftists' would be considered centre-right in most other western democracies
