US Election 2020
Nice art.
Easy to adapt for later as well. Just swap in blind lady justice for the Statue of Liberty.
Finally he is letting his staff prepare for a transition. Better than nothing.

As expected, he will go out with a sullen whimper despite all the bombastic nonsense of the last two weeks. More and more Republican senators have finally had enough of the tantrums and his legal challenges have not only failed, but have made him such a laughing stock that they are actually firing each other. The laughable press conference by his legal team last week was perhaps the turning point.
Seems KGB was not successful this time.
They were so strong in 2016, but they failed in 2020.
End of an era.

Whilst legally futile and morally questionable, the fact remains that Trump has successfully undermined the confidence of a large percentage of the populace in the processes in place.
One upside of this is that a review of electoral processes, a number of which are rather archaic, is likely to take place across the USA. Hopefully the next election will be preceded by a concerted effort by states to educate the populace in electoral procedures and safeguards.
Whilst much of the degradation of confidence in the electoral process is fueled by ignorance, it was hubris that allowed this ignorance to flourish.

I'm not convinced it's long-term damage. Trump will disappear in due course. His tweets will no longer be slavishly followed, and I can't see a 2024 bid happening. He will be consumed by his legal challenges and the fact DB are asking for their loan repayment.
BUt i agree the upside could be a review of how the whole process works - how much elections are beholden to issues like partizanship in certification, bad faith delegates and even something as mundane as GSA compliance. It's all a bugger's muddle and a national embarassment.

To undermine our democracy, strip it of its legitimacy, poison the confidence of our people in our institutions and the Constitution, for Donald Trump's own petulant, selfish, rabid ends," (Carl)Bernstein said.
Bwahahaha. This is the kind of inane over-the-top gibberish that the likes of the scobe lap up. 'OMG, It's Carl Bernstein saying it!' thinks the scobe. 'And it will be endorsed by Robert de Niro and Bruce Springsteen so OM double-G it is surely true.'
'And that guest "convoluted" is a Putin bot, mark my words' warns the scobe, darkly.

Truth. Well said. Anybody who is independent enough to know that both Trump and Biden are puppet clowns, and that both have some good ideas and some bad ideas is immediately on the naughty boy list.
Only Dems are honest/good/ethical. The cognitive dissonance involved is scary, and reeks of fascism, tbh.
But good that they can express their viewpoint, yes?

The use of the term 'fascist' to describe the left is one of the oddest parts of the recent US election and perhaps sums up the intellectual rigour of both campaigns. Pinko, commie, controlling bastards, maybe, but selfish, red-necked, fascist pigs belongs to the right.wibblewibble wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:26 amOnly Dems are honest/good/ethical. I feel sorry for the centralists; "flip-flopping fence-sitter" really lacks panache. It's almost as if no-one can be bothered with them.

How about we debate the things we actually say, rather than what you are projecting I say or believe?
For the record I find Bernstein’s comments hyperbolic.
Actually, that orange make-up wearing guy is not a lame duck at the moment. He can wreak havoc at the country at an incredible level and all signs are there, he is going to do that.
It is hoped for, the new administration will work to significantly limit a presidents' power, especially from some months before the elections until a reseat is granted [with reelection] or until step-down day [with power transition]. This will take care a sitting presidents' bad moves are known and discussed in public before election day.
IF the idiot keeps on behaving on Twatter as he did before, he'll be temporary banned pretty soon, and after some repeats, his account will be wiped out. Non-politicians do have far lower ban-trigger thresholds as politicians.scobienz wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 7:54 pm.....

......
With that, Trump his general purpose communication channels with "the world" are closed down [The ultra-rightwing channels aren't mainstream and only for his brainless diehard core supporters].
Long term damage: It'll take the USA a long time to regain the world positions this America First idiot let go [and a lot of it will never be restored]. The Middle East is already "negotiating" among themselves, without the USA being invited [Poor Israel, though they deserve it, so to say].
