Very important new research on the Oxford AZ vaccine yesterday. According to new trials, it provides 72 percent protection after first dose, boosted to 82 percent on second dose after 12 weeks. The first dose effectiveness doesn’t diminish in that 12 week period.
This endorses the U.K. strategy of focusing on first does vaccination first - today the U.K. will hit the 10m people given first dose milestone.
More importantly, the new study suggests the vaccine is 67% effective against reducing transmission.
That is hugely significant.
Covid vaccine - jab or you’re barred
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-heal ... SKBN29D1DMDenmark is developing a digital “vaccine passport” for people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine, a move that may enable them to travel to countries where such documentation is required during the pandemic.
“It is expected that there may be requirements from other countries to present vaccine documentation upon entry. A Danish vaccine passport can be used here,” the Health Ministry said in an emailed statement on Friday.

However they require a "green passport", a certificate that can only be obtained once you have been vaccinated.

There is currently no practical way for this to be accepted internationally. Imagine you travel to country X, and have a vaccine certificate from country Y, Not only would country X have to be able to even identify if the Y certificate is valid at a glance, but it also needs to be approved as relevant by country X. So I doubt that will reach a smooth global acceptance any time soon.
WHO is working on coming up with international standards for such concepts, but first they need to be globally approved in the first place, then each country must decide which international certificates it honours. So on a practical level, the pandemic will most likely be over long before this becomes truly global.

With COVID the damage one individual walking around spreading it can have a huge impact on the local population. If you faked your yellow fever vaccination, the threat on others are of course still an issue, but you wouldn’t potentially cause a massive outbreak by just wondering around being a tourist in a city.
Another factor is that yellow fever and it’s vaccination process is established and well known, so there isn’t the aspect of uncertainty- did this person get vaccinated in a way that our country deems effective, did he get vaccinated with a medicine that has been approved here, was the vaccine handled in a way that didn’t make it effective? Mostly nonsense, but as long as there is a lot of distrust and general scare about the topic people tend to act rationally.

https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/thai-c ... accinated/Thailand is putting the cart before the horse with plans to issue travel papers to those vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as next month.
While a global system has yet to be put in place, Disease Control officials approved plans to issue so-called COVID passports that may be accepted by other nations in the future.
Thailand could begin honoring them by cutting isolation time in half to seven days as soon as next month if the plan is approved by the cabinet.
It will cut it to 10 days for people with health certificates indicating a recent negative test.
Bringing the news. You stay classy, nas, Cambodia.
