COVID Takes a Prime Minister's Life
Since the beginning of the year, a number of prominent politicians have tested positive for COVID, but to my knowledge, none of have succumbed, that is until today.
The country now in need of a prime minister is Eswantini, a tiny African country that I didn't know was on the map until a few minutes ago. May he rest in peace.
"Eswatini Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini, who tested positive for COVID-19 four weeks ago, has died at age 52 after being hospitalised in neighbouring South Africa, the tiny absolute monarchy’s government said late on Sunday."
“Their Majesties have commanded that I inform the Nation of the sad and untimely passing away of His Excellency the Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini. His Excellency passed on this afternoon while under medical care in a hospital in South Africa”, Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku said in a statement."

Until 2018 it was called Swaziland. You've probably heard that name before.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
They changed their name because people kept confusing them for Switzerland on formal documents. Seriously.

Didn’t it used to be called something else?
Perhaps someone could confirm.

Either Australia or Austria should change their name then.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
Austria was there first, so maybe they could rename Australia "New Sea Land"?

Unfortunate. How is the pandemic in Africa...I hear almost nothing about there or India.

I'm in Cape Town on holiday now. What an incredibly beautiful place, beaches, food. I hear talk of an imminent lockdown as there were allegedly 9000 cased in the city in one day. But everywhere it's business as usual, restaurants etc open with mandatory masks and temp checks everywhere.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 1:46 pmUnfortunate. However groups of partying students flouting the rules queuing for the clubs Saturday evening. It's hard to tell what the real situation is.
Addendum: 8900 cases in the country yesterday, their highest one day figure.

India is more or less back to normal in terms of lockdowns and things. Cases are high, but they've accepted the virus as a part of life.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 1:46 pmUnfortunate. How is the pandemic in Africa...I hear almost nothing about there or India.
A stunning city - I used to go there every couple of months for work when I was in Phnom Penh. I forget the name of the main nightlife street but it’s a great night out.logos wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 6:05 pmI'm in Cape Town on holiday now. What an incredibly beautiful place, beaches, food. I suspect most of the cases would be in the shanty towns close to the city.
