Anybody watching Derek Chauvin trial (George Floyd)?
What are your thoughts?
The state really is pulling out all the stops.
Sadly, whatever the verdict is there's going to be some looting.

He was murdered for being black. What else is there to think?

Nope, not watching as I don't have a TV. Or do you mean following? Either way not bothered much as American news doesn't interest me. I am usually only interested in the news of where I am.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

Recently finished watching Making a Murderer on Netflix.
Fark, never say too much to the cops.
Fark all DNA evidence.
Who dunnit?
The Confession Killer, also made a mockery of the American justice system out in some of those backwater towns.

I've just started watching Making a Murderer now, it's a right stitch up by the police or is it.
Is that the dead criminal in America? Couldn't care less. You know it is best for your health to listen to the cops and comply. If you don't this could be the outcome as has been shown many times over the previous years. Sure, sometimes they get it wrong. Talk about it on the station / lawyer up and try to get it sorted.
What shocked me more was the recent case where a female cop managed to mistake her gun for a taser..... Completely unsuitable to carry either.

Spain?
pew, pew, pew, pew!
It is impossible to avoid it even on the BBC News front page where it tends to be the first article - whilst tens/hundreds are being murdered in Myanmar on a daily basis is pushed to the bottom of the site as a footnote.
At least their football coverage is still decent.

(Unconnected to OP, but didn't a few folks on another topic, maybe about masks or vaccines or quarantines, say it was only sheeple who pay attention to rules, laws, police, etc?)
My personal experience has been that most police, most of the time, are good, and do seek 'to serve and protect'. This trial helps me understand why others think differently, and that their lived experience is certainly as valid as mine.
Sure I am watching trail updates. As an older white, hetro, male who grew up in an area where most people looked like me, it seems a good learning opportunity. Sure fast and easy prejudice is part of life in every person, and every community, and country, but I think, at the very least, we should know where our own prejudices might be influencing our decisions and perhaps leading us to make bad choices.
The cop on trial decided he had grounds to detain George Floyd, and in this case, I won't second guess that. However, there is not a planet on which kneeling on his neck for that lonnnnnnnnnggggg time was a good decision. It was murder.
Further, I doubt he would have done the same thing to someone who looked like me.
When a potential employer doesn't give me a chance because I'm perceived as too old, that angers me. If potential employers had a huge pile of tick boxes, unrelated to job performance, that were very frequently ticked against me, I'd be angry most of the time. If those same tick boxes resulted in my death, I'd sure hope others would get angry enough to pay attention and work towards change. That, at best, is why the trial matters.

If Floyd had been white, he would not be dead. Simple.
No,
I have zero interest in watching any trial, ever

What is your basis for saying that? Are you aware that police in the US kill more whites than blacks every year? You just never hear about the killings of whites on the news, which leads morons to believe that every killing of an unarmed black guy is racist.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 3:31 pmIf Floyd had been white, he would not be dead.
