The Mail has shifted towards the centre in recent months - a change of editor.
Supermarkets in the U.K. have suffered from shortages but those images are rather selective. Bottled water, some frozen foods etc - that’s pretty much all. It’s been caused by a shortage of lorry drivers, caused primarily by the Test and Trace app causing people to self isolate, and exacerbated by a more general shortage of drivers caused by Eaast European drivers returning home, prompted by both Covid and Brexit.
There’s a shortage because, as you say, the Eastern Europeans (or EE drivers as they are called) drove wages down for the last 30 years. Now they’ve all fucked off the hauliers are screwed.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 2:19 pm

Crap money crap infrastructure crap services. Crappy job.
Some big firms (Tesco, BP) are offering joining bonuses even for newly qualified drivers, which are rare because no driving tests or CPC modules are being done.
It’s the hauliers who created this mess now they are blaming other things for it hoping for a government handout.

The fellas who drive/break stuff get paid more than those that fix it these days.

Yeah, the drivers are on the same, or often more than the fitters.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 3:22 pmNot sure I understand. Dude.spitthedog wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 2:49 pm

So not sure the pay is all that bad for drivers.
You can earn good money doing an HGV Dublin to Cork route for the supermarkets.

No it’s not bad. There are some peachy jobs (railway), or if you’ve got your ADR (dangerous goods) etc plus forklift.spitthedog wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:20 pmYeah, the drivers are on the same, or often more than the fitters.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 3:22 pmNot sure I understand. Trunking is good money anywhere but soul destroying especially in the UK. Other drivers hate you!
I’ve driven trucks in Ireland and generally the roads are better and less congested, apart from Dublin and Cork. It also feels like you’re on the continent, but on the left (correct) side of the road!
They are also suffering with shortages and prefer “fluent English speakers” which is odd seeing as you can’t understand them especially the NI lot!

There is more than "empty shelves" in UK Stores due to the shortage of foreign Lorry Drivers. Boris is showing the world that there are more important things than a British Breakfast lacking the Beans. Now the new Aircraft Carrier incl. the armada of battle ships have been sent on a :provoke China Mission in the South China Sea. It's unclear wether the Uk is just playing the lap dog of the US or does it voluntarily. The Chinese , business people professionals are waiting to have a good laugh at a country that once claimed to "rule the waves".>
