National Pig Association confirms 600 animals out of a potential 120,000 have been destroyed and incinerated instead of going into the food chain due to nationwide labour shortage caused by Brexit.
UK UPDATE : UK govt to do a U-turn on visas for European butchers and meat processing workers in order to hold off collapse in the British meat industry and farming sector.
GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT : Dear Johnnie Foreigner,
Please can you come back over here on a shit temporary visa scheme till Christmas eve ?.
We need you to make sure we have enough food, pigs in blankets and all that, fuel and Christmas pressies.
We will go back back to being massive ungrateful racist bigots on Christmas day.
Yours Sincerely
Boris Johnson

Sacré bleu! The French have decided to blockade the UK over fishing rights or something.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/worl ... 38192.htmlOne fisherman, Laurent Merlin, told the BBC that they are “in a constant state of anxiety and anger” and added: “We are waiting until Friday, and then we’ll start to organise ourselves to attack.”
Speaking from the French port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Mr Merlin said: “We’ll create as much disruption as we can, by blocking the things Britain needs the most.
“We saw the [impact of the] gas shortage; we’ll try to create another shortage of something else. We’re ready to block everything: Calais, Dunkirk, the Channel Tunnel. We need this fishing licence and we’ll do anything to get it.”
Manager of the local fishing committee, Benoit Firmin, said that, if the blockade goes ahead, it would probably target Christmas supplies and be wider than just the port in Boulogne.
He poked fun at the supply chain crisis in the UK, saying: “We haven’t even blocked yet and already there is a lack of food, petrol and staff.”

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
While it’s accepted that the U.K. does more tests than it’s neighbours, the optics on this chart are truly shocking. I wonder how long it is before the much vaunted opening up of global travel is blocked for U.K. citizens? If I were a tourism minister around the world I’d be looking at U.K. visitors very seriously.

Fortunately for us all the people that make such decisions (usually) understand statistics and how to read data:Guest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 2:32 pmI wonder how long it is before the much vaunted opening up of global travel is blocked for U.K. citizens? Given the high case load one of three things must be true:
- The UK has a far superior healthcare system than the others
- The UK has some different kind of Covid that is less deadly
- The UK is much better at detecting cases

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
I agree but that wasn’t my point. My point was about optics. Policy makers around the world don’t log in to 440 to have things explained to them by you. They see headlines. They see unnuanced graphs which show huge numbers of infections in the U.K. That is all that matters.starkmonster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 7:29 pmFortunately for us all the people that make such decisions (usually) understand statistics and how to read data:Guest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 2:32 pmI wonder how long it is before the much vaunted opening up of global travel is blocked for U.K. citizens? If I were a policy maker in Europe or Asia I would think I can get political capital by banning what seem to be (on the surface) the filthy germy Brits.
I'd rather put the money on the Johns Hopkins University Data.

The endless Brexit Game> Gas, Pigs and now Chicken.
Temporary Visa for workers from Eastern Europe won't settle the problem. Perhaps the better option would be to fire Bj and tell the British People the truth.

Yeah, the problem is, Brits do have to start doing this work themselves and that might be quite difficult to realize .......Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:00 pmThe endless Brexit Game> Gas, Pigs and now Chicken.
