Afghanistan
All types of government maintenance with beards, caps and sunglasses left with their endless hardware flightcases. I'm sure these helicopters were doomed for demolition anyway, having flown in a dusty and harsh environment for so many years.
A second US Drone Airstrike in Kabul destroyed a loaded car bomber near the airport
U.S. drone strike destroys Islamic State car bomb in Kabul,
WASHINGTON, Aug 29 (Reuters) - American forces launched a drone strike in Kabul on Sunday that killed a suicide car bomber suspected of preparing to attack the airport, U.S. officials said, as the United States nears the end of its military presence in the city.
The strike, first reported by Reuters, is the second carried out by U.S. forces in Afghanistan since an Islamic State suicide bomber struck the airport on Thursday, killing 13 U.S. troops and scores of Afghan civilians trying to flee the country.
One U.S. official said Sunday's strike was carried out by an unmanned aircraft and that secondary explosions following the strike showed the vehicle had been carrying a "substantial amount of explosive material."

Well I'm sure the Taliban are capable of improvising military hardware in to hybrid Mad Max-esque machines.v12 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 5:31 pmEverything that is supposed to go man-controlled into the air, is not so much of a thread. Without proper and continuous training, this stuff is pretty useless. Not to speak, that military hardware like this would not pass consumer level endurance requirements, it wears out pretty quick and parts are not available. Military hardware is no longer the rough and decent stuff of 50 years ago.
A bigger issue is, this stuff will end up in China and Russia, where they are very much interested in the technologies in this air-based stuff.
Another issue is the "distribution" of the land-based equipment, potentially ending up at black markets in other countries in the area, or even Africa.
There seems to be 84b$ of military inventory that is missing and the US at this point don't know how much of that is in Taliban hands

I think I agree with the very first poster in this thread, who stated:
Earthlings Characterized by Faith in Avenging Gods
Or,
Military Leftovers Turn New Profits for the Prophet?
Terrorists and soldiers are so expensive... think about that... the only prophets being made are in weapons sales. Look at how sad it all is: poor and very young Americans dying too young for no reason... Again and again!
Ideas are supposed to inspire civilization... not cripple it with homicidal nonsense... Where have we gone wrong? How can we ever fix this mess?

It is often contradictory when it comes to people's needs and opinions. The current Taliban are the next generation and their society is influenced by twenty years of occupation. The #kabul hashtag on Twitter shows open shops and non-offensive even friendly Taliban. Some say most of the deaths from the explosion were due to panic among US soldiers who started shooting everyone. But that's nothing compared to what could happen in the Middle East that could be triggered at any time. The new generals are thirsty for blood to use their ramjet missiles, which could spoil the current power balance. Ultimately, the locals will prevail, but modern technology is of interest to almost every young person today. So the resources to build smartphones is forever needed. We will likely see the United States strengthen its positions among its allies among the oil-rich states, who see the challenges of former adversaries to unseen levels these days.
Yep, that is what I wrote. Everything that flies will be useless. Stuff that is used on the ground will be a big issue, spreading to neighboring countries and/or Africa.Dylan Quint wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:01 amWell I'm sure the Taliban are capable of improvising military hardware in to hybrid Mad Max-esque machines.v12 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 5:31 pmEverything that is supposed to go man-controlled into the air, is not so much of a thread. Mission accomplished for another 30 years, then another US president with huge military earning signs in the eyes will have forgotten you can not "bring" democracy abroad and will try again.Expatissimo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 8:56 amLast US Soldier leaves Afghanistan (Kabul Airport)

Isn't it more about creating a conflict to generate an earn? It has always been disguised as some moral or otherwise justified pretext. Who was it said, "...the rest is collateral damage?" Kissinger, maybe.
You maybe refer to Cheney for the second Gulf War ? I certainly think so, their lies around the WOM might have been fed with that.Dylan Quint wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 3:22 pmIsn't it more about creating a conflict to generate an earn? The next challenge for Afghan Refugees is already taken place
NO, we don't want Afghan Refugee's
Austria, US Senators in Wyoming and South Dakota while another 12 State Senators stay MUTE !, Turkey, Greece etc. (these are the honest ones). Those Afghans that end up in the US will at least in my opinion not look forward to the bright future that they have on their mind. The US is a Racist, Violent and Hatefull Country with loads and loads of Weapons in private hands, so you figure.

Afghan Refugees heading for an uncertain future.
The US persuaded several countries from Albania, Uganda to Kosovo etc. to "temporarily" house Afghan Refugees. But what does temporarily really mean ? And what happens to those that are rejected by the US ?
Germany has an agreement that Afghan Refugees must stay on US Mil. Bases for no longer than 10 days before they are airlifted to the US............................................where they will again face a very uncertain future for sure with the anti-muslim sentiments among the population there.
Albania
A duty to help
Others on the streets of Tirana say that Albania, which is a member of NATO, has a duty to help out its ally, the United States. The Biden administration asked Rama to host Afghan refugees until they are vetted and approved for US visas.
“This can take up to one year,” says Alban Dafa, a researcher on security at the Institute for Democracy and Mediation in Tirana. “But the government has not provided enough information on the whole process.” He’s concerned that the situation may lead to a growing rejection of Afghan evacuees within the Albanian population, and he also wonders what will happen to those who are not allowed to move on to the US — “those refugees who are going to be stranded in Albania.”
“Who knows how long the Afghan refugees will actually stay?” one man asks us, shaking his head in disbelief. “We have an economy where people are begging, we have to search for bread in the trash, you know?”

Cambodia is in a similar situation and only recently agreed to temporarily house several hundred Afghan Refugees. How reliable is the US to actually airlift them to the US ??

Yeah, and once the refugees got their Western passport, they go "on holiday" to the country where they fled from, because of a life-threatening situation.
