"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
American passport or not, rumor has it the price is $ 6,500 for an out of town ticket, not including tips and extras.
Withdrawing the troops was obviously the right thing to do. As Biden more or less acknowledged, the Taliban would've taken over if the US had stayed for another three years or another five years. The puppet regime and its military were corrupt to the point that meaningful reforms could only happen after their collapse.
The real scandal is the massive intelligence failure and the ridiculous belief that the puppet regime would be able to hold onto Kabul for a long time enough to allow for American citizens to safely evacuate from the country. Biden simply did not have the time to follow the minutiae of the war in Afghanistan or to understand the intricacies of the patronage system and culture of the peoples of Afghanistan and so he relied on others to keep him informed. Since he was being fed the wrong information he inevitably made some mistakes but the fault should be laid on the shoulders of the likes of the CIA and military intelligence.

It doesn't matter who of the US Gov. you make responsable for this mess. I simply repeats itself: Vietnam, Iraq, Somalia, and now Afghanistan. Looking at Kemala Harris latest visit to Vietnam we can see that the US still keeps a steady eye on the "Upcoming War" with China in the South China Sea, perhaps against Iran etc. Will this country and it's representatives ever learn ? I have my doubts. Parallel to this the US and it's trigger happy, gun loving culturre has a war "within" to handle where people are shot and murdered every day.
Kabul Airport should shake up the geopolitical aspirations and change course so we all on the planet can sleep and live a better life.
Here is the Demand of the US Marine Battalion Commander in Kabul:

Don't confuse ' I don't give a fuck who dies because I've made billions from this scam' with ' We never knew what would happen, and we're so sorry for all the dead American servicemen and civilians'.
With greed, everyone is expendable, they just dress up their withdrawal as failure, rather than cynical, informed decision-making
Afghan Refugees should not expect an universal Welcome once they arrive in the US.
GOP rift widens amid growing hostility to Afghan refugees
WASHINGTON — As the U.S. rushes to evacuate Americans and allies from the chaos of Afghanistan, a growing number of Republicans are questioning why the U.S. should take in Afghan citizens who worked side by side with Americans, further exacerbating divides within the party heading into next year's midterm elections.
Little more than a week ago, as the Taliban's stunning takeover of Afghanistan still was snapping into focus, former President Donald Trump issued a statement saying "civilians and others who have been good to our Country ... should be allowed to seek refuge." But in more recent days, he has turned to warning of the alleged dangers posed by those desperately trying to flee their country before an end-of-month deadline.
"How many terrorists will Joe Biden bring to America?" he asked.

Add the rampant Hate and Racism in the US and you got a recepie for the next desaster.

Briton can evacuate 200 dogs and cats from Kabul
=================================
Glad to hear that he managed to get noticed. The animals deserve it, those that caused the mess should replace them in their shelters instead.
She IS NOT OUT YET !!

The British owner of an animal shelter in Afghanistan will be allowed to evacuate around 200 cats and dogs on a charter plane from Kabul, the UK’s defence minister said Wednesday in an apparent climbdown.
The high-profile campaign by former Marine Paul “Pen” Farthing to evacuate his animals has prompted controversy as thousands of people seek to flee the Taliban ahead of US troops’ withdrawal by August 31.
After serving in Afghanistan with the British Army, Farthing founded an animal charity called Nowzad in Kabul rescuing cats, dogs and donkeys.
He remains in Kabul and has crowd-funded a plane to fly out his staff and their families as well as some 200 cats and dogs in what he calls Operation Ark.

Pen Farthing, a man with a mission (this time accomplished !!) In the current situation at Kabul Airport you must use every trick in the book to get things done (dog/cat out). He is a achiever, for sure. Against all odds of the Brit Gov. he managed to get a "private charter flight" incl. all his animals but without any of his staff out. For that he had to use verbal/social media tools that would have caused future carrier harm to those in power in Britain.
Pen Farthing said to have left voicemail for Ben Wallace's adviser: 'I am going to destroy you'
Social Media is a perfect tool to destroy the reputation of people. Perhaps using it on some Brit Embassy Staff around the globe would help, too.
quote:
Pen Farthing told an adviser to the defence secretary that he would "f-----g destroy you" over the Government’s handling of the Kabul evacuation, it emerged.
The former Royal Marine, who founded an animal charity in the country, became embroiled in an increasingly bitter row with Ben Wallace after he became the last British civilian to leave Kabul, along with 94 dogs and 79 cats.
Mr Farthing, 52, left the airport with the animals from his sanctuary on a private charter flight, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
However he said that he was “devastated” after he was forced by airport officials to leave behind his Afghan staff.
He is understood to have left a message for Peter Quentin, a special adviser to Ben Wallace and a former Conservative parliamentary candidate, earlier in the week.
A defence source said: "The message Pen Farthing left for Ben Wallace's spad the other night was threatening in the extreme.
Mr Farthing left Mr Quentin, who served in the Army in Afghanistan, a voice recording stating that he would “spend the rest of my time f-----g destroying you on social media and every other f-----g platform I can find”.
According to a leaked version of the recording obtained by The Sunday Times, he added: “So here’s the deal, buddy. You either get me that f-----g Isaf number and you get me permission to get onto that f-----g airfield, or tomorrow morning I’m going to turn on you and the whole fucking country, and everybody else who’s invested in this rescue, is going to know it’s you — you — blocking this f-----g move. Alright?” he said.
Defence sources said the "sideshow" had left Mr Quentin and other Ministry of Defence figures with less time to focus on the wider evacuation.
Let’s get some facts out there: 1. No one , at any stage has blocked a flight. This is a total myth and is being peddled around as if that is why the pet evacuation hasn’t taken place. 2. I never said I would not facilitate. I said no one would get to queue jump.

Mr Quentin is said to be "worried it's ruined his chances of becoming an MP.” In 2019, he stood as a parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party in Camberwell.
Tensions had escalated on Friday when Mr Wallace complained that some of Mr Farthing’s more militant supporters had “taken up too much time” of senior commanders.
In a series of increasingly personal comments, one minister claimed Paul “Pen” Farthing was “truly odious”, adding how those battling to coordinate the exodus from Kabul were “fed up to the teeth with him”.
Much of the anger focused on how Mr Farthing had appeared determined not to leave without his 173 animals cared for by his Nowzad charity.
Although visas were granted for his 24 staff and their dependents, Mr Farthing refused to leave Kabul without the animals.
A UK Defence source said the former soldier’s plane arrived “in the nick of time” making Mr Farthing “the last British civilian” to leave the Taliban-controlled city.

BBC says no food by October.
Everything that is supposed to go man-controlled into the air, is not so much of a thread. Without proper and continuous training, this stuff is pretty useless. Not to speak, that military hardware like this would not pass consumer level endurance requirements, it wears out pretty quick and parts are not available. Military hardware is no longer the rough and decent stuff of 50 years ago.
A bigger issue is, this stuff will end up in China and Russia, where they are very much interested in the technologies in this air-based stuff.
Another issue is the "distribution" of the land-based equipment, potentially ending up at black markets in other countries in the area, or even Africa.
