Russia has announced it has withdrawn from Snake Island, which is understandable as the Ukrainians had managed to place artillery with sufficient range to hit the island, turning it into a turkey shoot. The Russians were struggling for air defence for the island as Black Sea Fleet frigates couldn't get too close without risking a similar fate to the Moskva and the Ukrainians kept taking out those systems they did managed to land.
It remains to be seen if the Ukrainians can occupy the island and place anti-ship missiles on it. If they can then they may have the confidence to demine Odessa to allow grain exports to commence.

Will they be able to recover all of the mines they've laid? Haven't they been floating around for months?

It's a good question, as any that break loose from their moorings are effectively rogue. Certainly any that were laid in Mariupol or Berdyansk harbours are outside of Ukraine's ability to monitor and they won't be passing any information to the Russians.
Turkey has discovered and detonated two already, which suggests it is already an issue.
Why does the wheat have to be moved through the Black Sea? A lot of it is headed for the Middle East. Couldn't they use rail and trucks to move it through Europe and then ship it through the Mediterranean or something?
The more likely scenario is the grain will be going to Syria only, after Turkey takes its cut.
I know that a lot of Middle Eastern countries import Russian wheat. The Israelis grow very high quality wheat but they export most of it to Italy and consume cheap Russian wheat

Due to the volume, the rail and road network isn't able to move the volume of grain from the silos at Ukraine's ports. I read somewhere it would take 2.5 years to move 1 year's worth of grain with the existing rail & road infrastructure. If the grain can't be shipped then there will be nowhere to store this year's crop. Much of it may be able to be held on the farms, however after that there is nowhere to put grain.
Hence the grain needs to be shipped to clear the backlog to allow for this season's grain to be stored.
One of the problems is that there are insufficient storage facilities elsewhere to handle the volume, so Poland is constructing silos at their border with Ukraine to alleviate the problem. A logistics chain out of Western Ukraine can be constructed, however it may take years to reach the point it can service the volume produced.

I like this guy's weekly updates. As always, taken with grain of salt, but interesting that the claim from Russian speaking sources that a Ruskie mine broke free and sunk a Ruskie ship near Mariapol. Aslo those precision missiles not really aiming at schools, hospitals, shoping malls, apartment complexes etc., they just not very precise/shit.
Is that a missile belly flopping onto a orangery?Nerd wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 10:04 pmI like this guy's weekly updates. pew, pew, pew, pew!
As far as I am aware, missiles do not 'belly flop' on to orangeries or anywhere else.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:47 pmIs that a missile belly flopping onto a orangery?Nerd wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 10:04 pmI like this guy's weekly updates. It marks a political objective achieved for Russia. Whether they Donbas offensive will continue with the same intensity remains to be seen, as many units must be exhausted. Certainly Ukraine have well prepared defenses around Slovyansk and Kramatorsk which will take a lot of Russian resources to assault.
Ukraine have reportedly become much better at hitting Russian supply depots deep behind the front line, however what material impact that is happening on supply to Russian front-line units is unclear. Igor Girkin refers to them in this report (translated from his Telegram account) https://wartranslated.com/igor-girkin-d ... july-2022/

No no no let's get it right. It will take up Ukrainian manpower with American and European resources to defend.
America and Europe reminds me of those kids who used to stir shit in the playground to get to people to fight one another.
I wonder how much of this thread has just been propaganda.
But don't worry there's hope just as long as we pronounce Kiev the right way and and keep on flying those Ukrainian flags everything will be ok.
