I wonder whether someone here can help me with the Irish lingo.
I've been here nearly 3 years now, and I've even stopped saying hello, and now prefer to greet people with - "Wos the craic?"
It's got a much nicer ring to it.
I also understand "Langer" and "Goaal".
"Yer focking langer!!!"
In fact, I think a certain work colleague at my last job, used to call people that alot, but behind their back at least.
He was known for taking 3 breakfasts before 10 am though, so I was never offended.
One I'm struggling with though, is this one.
Can anyone translate the following? ;
"Ahhhhh, yer bollocks yer!!!!"
Does it mean you messed up?

Its contextual.
Were you winding up yer man?
Were you telling tall stories to yer man?
Were you impressing yer man?
What were you saying or doing when yer man said it?
All us irish members need to know the context.
Fair play to yer man.

Sort of like when somebody asks you if you had done a certain something a few days ago (a work task), but then the somebody has the evidence of you on CCTV doing the certain something.
That sort of humoured "Ahh, yer bollocks ya".
(I should add that I wasn't "a bollocks" though, because someone next to me told me they logged the simple procedure, and they did)
So sort of an "Ah, yer bollocks ya", back atcha, I guess.

It's just a gentle dig.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I've had this said to me when living in London and working with an Irish. What it means is, you are difficult or hard to get on with.
This may have had something to do with me not being from that cunty part of the world and hardly understanding a feckin' word he said at the best of times.
Ps, love Cork, I do.
The aussies have an equally concise description of their fellow man.
Singular : Cunt!
Plural : Cunties!

My dad calls everyone “Yer man” to the extent thus;
“Howsitgoing son?”
“Yeah all good dad”
“How’s yer man?”
“Who?”
“Yer man. Smaller than you, beady eyes. Attitude?”
“Oh. Steven. Your other son?”
“Yes”
He also talks Gaelic to me (and everyone else) when he’s drunk. (Teetotaler nowadays).
Used to go to Ireland twice a year for holidays. There were these local girls waiting for us to take us around the corner for a “shift”. 11yo me was happy of this shift.
