Anyway, I think we could both agree that the so-called Congo Free State was a very low point in history, I am certainly not trying to defend the crimes there. Anyway, who is this dwarf leader? I'm intrigued.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
The Bolsheviks abolished the Russian monarchy and murdered the czar and his entire family.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 5:18 pmIt's not just a matter of using the wrong name. They were different states. Do you also conflate Tsarist massacres with those in the USSR? They were all Russians.
And could you please try and make a coherent argument without constantly invoking Godwin's Law?
The Belgian government did not punish Leopold II for his crimes and he remained the "King of the Belgians" when he died.
The Belgian people should dismantle the monarchy and sell off all royal assets and use the money to pay reparations to the Congoese. The fact that they continue to honor the royal family is a huge middle finger to humanity.
I feel the same way about the criminal House of Orange and the Scandinavian and British royal families. None of these country deserve a seat at the table of civilized countries.
There are ways to abolish the royal family legally and without bloodshed so subjects of the King of the Belgians have no excuse.

It was just a meaningless ceremonial role. Belgians don't give a damn about their "royal family". The country only came into existence less than two centuries ago, and their modern identity doesn't revolve around kings and queens.

I don't think Leopold II would've been able to enter into a personal union with the Congo Free State if it wasn't for his high position guaranteed to him by birthright by the Belgian constitution. Although I think I've more or less already made that point. We will just have to disagree on this one.
And to you Harold. Especially to you.
We're all aware of your shenanigans.
Hmmm, so the 24 statues of Leopold and monuments indicate apathy to you?Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:21 amBelgians don't give a damn about their "royal family".
People are aware of the history now, yet the statues remain. That can only mean they do care.
Try criticising Leopold in Belgium today and see what happens.
You saw how kneejerky Logos and other apologists get.
The only ones throwing a hissy fit here are Harold and you Vlad, as usual.sumfink wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 5:07 amHmmm, so the 24 statues of Leopold and monuments indicate apathy to you?Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:21 amBelgians don't give a damn about their "royal family".

You also support reparation payments to the descendants of African slaves brought to the USA and to Native Americans? Do you regularly contribute financially to BLM, spend your weekends working voluntarily for AIM?
I sort of missed the ridiculous title of this thread. WTF has it got to do with non-whites?
Also, Harold, where do you stand on the warring native American tribes paying reparations for the terrible violence and genocide they visited on the non-warring tribes long before the white man made the terrible error of settling the Americas and creating the Frankenstein we must live with today?

Priti Patel, of Indian descent, defending xenophobia and racism, the irony
' The first flight scheduled to take asylum seekers from the UK to Rwanda on Tuesday has been cancelled after a last-minute legal battle.
Up to seven people had been expected to be removed to the east African country.
But the flight was stopped after an intervention from the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
Home Secretary Priti Patel said she was "disappointed" but would not be deterred and the "preparation for the next flight begins now".
The cancellation of the flight followed a UK court saying it could go ahead, and came after a series of legal challenges in Britain failed.
The plane had been due to take off at 22:30 BST from a military airport in Wiltshire but, after a number of linked judgments in Strasbourg and London, all passengers were removed from it.'

I vaguely recall you attended a school with an (undeserved?) reputation for excellence (and elitism)in the UK that claims to educate people.RobW wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 10:57 amI sort of missed the ridiculous title of this thread. WTF has it got to do with non-whites?

The logic behind this kind of response is more worthy of Robert Owen Academy.
The UK had the power and ability to enforce the payments and restitution you argue for, yet they did not.
Instead, they did exactly the same, or in many cases, worse.
