When you scream to keep your guns after massacre upon massacre, and demand individuals have no right in deciding what happens to their own bodies, we have ventured beyond political differences to a gaping chasm between moral values and the sense of what is right or wrong.

Obviously nothing. Don't be so dramatic. Look up the 10th amendment.Hanno wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 6:35 amThe USA has just been thrown back a hundred years. Poor women will once again be forced to have illegal abortions and fear getting caught. A court full of conservatives arguing along religious lines (and male dominated) has deemed it fit to rule on the lives of half of the population. To what end? Please the fundamentalists and Trump?
Yeah, never mind the women who will die because of botched abortions, no need to dramatise that.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 2:10 amDon't be so dramatic. 'The 10th Amendment reserves powers not delegated to the federal government back to the states. '
I think you're assuming the SC and its conservative supporters don't have the power to influence which direction states move in.
Those who claim that this decision is not based on religious grounds clearly have zero understanding of conservative US politics.
Bang on. This decision, bordering on imperious, is yet another example where the US defers to the ever decreasing moral majority. This is more about assuming control over womens' rights, not pro-life.FishHead Phil wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 6:45 pmWhen you scream to keep your guns after massacre upon massacre, and demand individuals have no right in deciding what happens to their own bodies, we have ventured beyond political differences to a gaping chasm between moral values and the sense of what is right or wrong.

Abortion is one of the most unregulated industries in the US - the trial of Kermit Gosnell is just the tip of the iceberg.zinfandel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 4:38 amYeah, never mind the women who will die because of botched abortions, no need to dramatise that.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 2:10 amDon't be so dramatic. Planned parenthood provide free contraceptives and the morning after pill - in theory there should be very little need for abortions and especially late term abortions.
That's a silly argument imho. All this does is mobilize the screaming mimis and pussy hat wearers for the mid-terms.'The 10th Amendment reserves powers not delegated to the federal government back to the states. '

Have you ever researched what is done during an abortion? Maybe you're ok with seeing tiny hands and feet, little mangled bodies in pools of blood, and shrug it off— but I wasn’t made that way. It’s beyond politics.

You are appealing to emotion. How to you feel about the mangled brains of meth/ crack babies? Or even just plain unwanted babies who are born to dumb-as-fuck teenage moms on welfare? Who cares about them?Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 9:17 pmHave you ever researched what is done during an abortion? And yet you fail to realize that your argument is an instrument of eugenics.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 9:49 pmYou are appealing to emotion. You fail to see that your argument enforces poverty on the less fortunate. You don't care about the brain damaged kids born to crack-heads and opiate abusers. They are already on the scrap heap but now you want to stuff your fake "Christian" morals down people's throats? Forcing rape victims and the under-aged victims of incest to give birth because you care about fetuses so much. It's a shame that you don't give a curse for the already born children who are doomed in your broken system. Tiny hands and feet evoke such strong emotions but slightly bigger ones can go stew in your mental institutions and prisons and nobody cares.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 10:54 pmAnd yet you fail to realize that your argument is an instrument of eugenics.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 9:49 pmYou are appealing to emotion. Nowhere have I said that rape and incest victims should be forced to give birth, - in fact I said earlier that these days abortion should be quite rare due to the availability of contraceptives and the morning after pill. These women are already traumatized and should be treated with compassion and counselling.
Brain damaged babies born to crack heads is a myth that has been debunked a long time ago.
Sorry, but I'm not going to be lectured to by someone who has never, and will never ever get pregnant.
I guess your "fake Christian" was triggered by my eugenics comment...
Cursory research will easily demonstrate a clear link between the eugenics movement and abortion.

What "eugenics movement"?

Yes, it's perfectly healthy to grow up in a crack house, or crack home as we prefer to call them nowadays.Brain damaged babies born to crack heads is a myth that has been debunked a long time ago.
This "eugenics movement" doesn't seem to have been very successful.

I find myself totally with LL on this one.
The ironic thing about many people who are vocally anti-abortion:
Many support gun laws that are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of children (and men and women)every year, but let's forget that inconvenient truth and conjure up images of coathangers and little hands in the womb.
Many also support their government's foreign policy which includes illegal wars that have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children (and men)
I guess the religious teachings on murder and warfare can be forgotten, as long as they can force their fundamentalist religious views on the poor: we gotta be sanctimonious and keep the source pool for the 'Defense' Force and police force full, right?
