I think he was jailed for underage pimping.
I have a souvenir of visiting him under easy confinement in st63 prison medical annex.

They claimed that the girls were underage/trafficked/illegal immigrants and all sorts of things. Truth of the matter was they all entered Cambodia without visas to work for Mrs Bruno and just stayed here to earn money.
The bar had a novel approach to Lady Drinks, as usual they cost more and the girls got a $1 commission on each drink you bought them, but each time you bought them a Lady Drink they flashed their boobs at you - they sold a lot of drinks that way

I remember once such bar with a nice French-vietnamese owner, pleasant and not pushy service. Is that the same guy?

How's Eric doing nowadays? Did he make it back to France?Barang_doa_slae wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:21 amThe epicenter for tiny tiny dirty French bars was Victory Hill in Sihanoukville assuredly.

He made it back to France quite diminished about 4 years ago.
Since you ask about him you would probably remember Mike the head barman but maybe missed the news that he passed away in Kampot last year?

Damn. What did he die of? Last time I saw him he was as big and strong as ever. If I were honest, I would have said it would have been the other way round.Barang_doa_slae wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:10 amEric from the Mojo?kungfufighter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:26 pmHow's Eric doing nowadays? Glad Eric made it back. Likely repatriated?

Mike died of a sudden illness and Eric was indeed repatriated, he was diagnosed with multiple mini strokes and now lives in his old Paris suburb.

Thanks for the update. Another guy I knew who had also moved to Kampot, I found out had died a few months ago. He had a bad stomach - likely amoebiasis, which was eventually compounded with pneumonia. He actually made it back to Sweden but died in hospital shortly after arriving.Barang_doa_slae wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 9:42 amMike died of a sudden illness and Eric was indeed repatriated, he was diagnosed with multiple mini strokes and now lives in his old Paris suburb.

L'Asiate I think. His style was more facilitating long term rentals, a bit like My Lien's setup on 278.
A big Johnny Halliday fan.

Bruno did not "bail himself out, but not his wife." Here's an accurate account of what happened:
When the boys in blue arrested Bruno and his Vietnamese partner, she tried to take all the blame herself, saying that she alone was responsible for hiring the girls. Eventually, and several tens of thousands of dollars later, Bruno got both of them out of the slammer. They then flew to France, where they got married. She apparently has a job with the post office department. They visit Cambodia every two years or so.

Thanks for posting that Prof Steve, you did fill me in on the rest of that story I had missed the other night, but unfortunately I had managed to forget it all by the time I had got home about 03AM ...Prof Steve wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 12:10 pmBruno did not "bail himself out, but not his wife." I remember Srool bar. It was French and Khmer or vice versa. Cool place. DJ Allan used to hang there with his Khmer friends. I wasn't a regular but I dropped in a few times to chat.
