International schools set to reopen from July
The Cambodian authorities plan to reopen international schools from July according to an information email sent to parents by an international school in Phnom Penh.
The decision to reopen will be officially confirmed by the end of June if the Covid-19 situation remains under control. The intention is for the school year 2020-2021 to go ahead as planned.
The email was sent to parents of students of the school on Monday afternoon.

Which school?! Also, pass along the source. That would be helpful. It seems vague and mysterious at this point and not having seen any official announcement from MOEYS, this is hard to believe.
They should just end the school year now, have the holidays early (not as if anyone is going anywhere so won't be any disruption to travel plans) and then start the new 2020-2021 school year early.
Although logical, I can see that it would be complicated from an accountancy point of view, so probably won't happen.

My kids have their school year in line with the calendar year. They got less than one term in before covid panic fucked it.
All of the international schools have a break of about two months in the summer. The main benefit of my brilliant idea would be more time spent in the classroom instead of the online classes that they are all doing now.Jackal wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 3:14 pmslavedog wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 2:41 pmThey should just end the school year now, have the holidays early (not as if anyone is going anywhere so won't be any disruption to travel plans) and then start the new 2020-2021 school year early.

Not sure I'll send them back now though. I'm doing a better job than the poxy school was.

I seriously doubt the veracity of this.
Heck, if it turns out to be true, I'll be shouting from the rooftops - well, my balcony, at any rate!
We simply aren't given enough data to be able to decide whether it is true.
I don't necessarily doubt that the email was sent; I just doubt that the authorities would make such an announcement.
It doesn't tally with announcements & pronouncements made in recent weeks.
Would be great if true - I just don't think it is.

Could you get off the fence and tell us if you think it’s true or not.

I don't think it's true. The email might have been sent, but I don't believe it. I've just said that.
That was a very quick response, scobienz.

It says reopen and there’s no mention about any activities. Are there more than one school sending the information?Billy smith wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 7:32 pmApparently the email said the school would reopen for activities, whatever that means.

I have close contacts at 2 of the leading international schools in Cambodia and they've both heard nothing about schools reopening in July.
