What Became of the Hard Working Foreigners with few Savings?
What Became of the Hard Working Foreigners with few Savings?
Serious question. We've all been broke at some point in our lives but the many people who had a life and ok jobs but no chance to save. Where are they now, those that have been laid off?
I often sit in 172 and there are plenty of down and outs, but they look like they were down and outs before the shit hit the fan too.

So RobW likes sitting on 172, watching the expat down and outs, and local snack head hoes.

RobW has never struck me as a Street 172 kind of guy.
They slowly slide deeper into the abyss of debt and despair, laying in darkened rooms with no electricity, pawning their belongings for groceries, and all the while contemplating whether it is better to die slowly of starvation, or to end it quickly.RobW wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:40 amSerious question. It’s a good question posed by RobW. Im assuming schools are still closed and given its likely many teachers are working from pay cheque to pay cheque, they must be struggling like hell right now.
I doubt if many were in a position to have debts, unless to friends.GuestX wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:22 pmThey slowly slide deeper into the abyss of debt and despair, laying in darkened rooms with no electricity, pawning their belongings for groceries, and all the while contemplating whether it is better to die slowly of starvation, or to end it quickly.RobW wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:40 amSerious question. But the rest of what you say is a concern.
I met lots of good people living month to month but don't see them around anymore.

Maybe they all flew home on repatriation flights at their government's expense.

I came very close to being back in Cambodia teaching English as a second language. I'm glad now that I turned around and tried something else. I would have been struggling as I would have had no savings.

The better schools are still open - I believe - and the teachers are working from home doing online lessons, albeit , for half the rate!
Pretty sure the young backpacker type teacher would have got flights home or are using daddy's card to party in Kampot.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Beltei has been open all the time, using on-line teaching, except for the first 1-2 weeks of the lock-down closures. Teachers are at home, or sometimes sole in their regular classroom.horace wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:53 pmThe better schools are still open - I believe - and the teachers are working from home doing online lessons, albeit , for half the rate!

I believe they all came to Kampot for the view, superior food, cheap beer and discount housing.RobW wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:40 amSerious question. I haven't worked for 8 months. If anyone needs a semi useful idiot and is paying 4 grand a month send me a PM.
Did I see somewhere today that tellers’ troubles are going to drag on as the govt announces that schools will not reopen in 2020?
Pretty sure I saw it somewhere but can’t find it now.
