It worked in this case. Ricecake's kids were ahead of their year when they arrived in Australia. Bet they can skin and butcher a buffalo too.Education Minister wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 10:56 amYou are talking lemons and potatoes. Home schooling is extremely advantageous when done properly. Trying to piece meal kids together without the same level can not work. Any kind of internet schooling will only depend on the student and parent. Either you find a regular pattern and form of education in a regime that is consistent, or you risk losing the upper education factor and what it entails.ricecakes wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 10:39 amLike i said - my kids are 3 years apart and they schooled together every day in the same room just with different lessons . Upshot was my son was picking up on the maths and english of his older sister when the whiteboard was being used. It is totally doable.slavedog wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 9:13 amHave been thinking about this, too. Lots of online resources for teachers these days. I think the tricky thing is finding other kids of the same age / grade. Most of my friends have kids who are a year or two older or younger - not sure if that would work.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 8:42 am^Funny you should say that, Rice. A few of us have been kicking around the idea of hiring teachers directly and setting a program we make ourselves for a group home school project.
There are different ways out there to do it, but as a parent you have a responsibility also.
MoE
My sister takes a similar approach to homeschooling since the kids just weren't finding school challenging. They do a lot of roving the glens and learning everything about the nature around them. Makes them want to read up about it and many other things. They do do the the 3 rs though.
Edited to add ricey's kids are some of the most polite, eloquent, at ease critters I've come across. It was a great surprise given the paternity.

It doesn’t matter if you have a business license. Teaching face to face is currently illegal.Private Tutor wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 11:47 amNo it is not, as I have a business license for it. Stop spreading rumours.
Do you think all the closed schools don’t have a business license?
The schools are a different category. I said I had a private business license to teach. I can teach face to face. It is just one student, one on one. They are trying to stop group gatherings, and teachers trying to do it are in danger if they are caught.Alexandra wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 11:53 amIt doesn’t matter if you have a business license. Please check with the Ministry of Education and even the prime ministers last statements on it recently to not have group gatherings before you shout your big mouth off.
I make a quite a sum at this time, and I thank the government for it.
Did you read the linked news article? There is no different category. Teaching in person is banned, illegal. Teaching online is permitted.Private Tutor wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 11:59 amPlease check with the Ministry of Education and even the prime ministers last statements on it recently to not have group gatherings before you shout your big mouth off.
The government has announced a ban on private tutor sessions while a teacher reportedly was arrested for allegedly attempting to meet a student amid COVID-19 fears.
https://www.khmertimeskh.com/706285/gov ... -sessions/Earlier this week Prime Minister Hun Sen highlighted a teacher who tried to teach a student in person.
“I heard an audio message about a tutoring attempt, which is prohibited,” Mr Hun Sen said. “[General] Chhay Sinarith [deputy chief of National Police] sent the voice message to Hang Chuon Naron.”
“A teacher was attempting to tutor a student,” he added. “[The teacher] was part of an independent group.”
Very kind if you to say so Rob however...Darwin is knocking the toff right off them. The boy can shoot feral animals with the best of them and the girl is now roaming around the neighbourhood on BMX bikes with kids of all.....ahem.....tribal ilk.
Gone are my little angels. In place I am being left with a couple of little bareftoot cheeky heathens *sigh*
( althought secretly...I love it ! )

Rated R for Ricecakes
You are quoting khmer news? Good luck. That was a class, not an individual. I know you want me to quote my source, but it is not necessary. Students are not necessarily children, and you are just trying punch holes in something you know nothing about.Alexandra wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 12:06 pmDid you read the linked news article? Are you new? I said it was legal. I said I have a private business license. Are you trying to address the downfallen teachers at individual schools? Not my avenue of income.
Correct yourself, sir. These are dire and serious times. Don't flaunt the law in paraphrases and don't tell me that I can not teach.

I hope you are not teaching English because your reading comprehension is whack.Private Tutor wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 12:14 pmYou are quoting khmer news? Good luck. That was a class, not an individual. I know you want me to quote my source, but it is not necessary.
You are making a lot of differences saying not all students are children, individual not groups and back and forth, but there is no such distinctions made in the ban. Teaching in person is banned, period.a teacher reportedly was arrested for allegedly attempting to meet a student
Teaching groups of students and individuals, regardless if they are children or adults, regardless of you being MoC and GDT registered, is ILLEGAL.
I don't spread rumours. I get the facts first. That is what people with valid passports, valid visas, valid work permits do in this country. I know my business and I know the law. Please do stop spreading stupid rumours that are at best generalisation without specifics under the new laws that have been enacted without know what you are talking about.

How would anyone know that a tutor had been hired and was teaching your kids at your home?
Seems like a stupid argument especially using the word illegal. Smoking ganga is illegal but both LL and Alexandria have smoked puff in Cambodia!

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Did they inhale?
Can you please show us the exception to the ban that says that you may teach individuals as long as your paperwork is in order?
Because clearly that is not what Prime Minister Hun Sen, Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron or the Cambodian Independent Teachers Association is telling the press.
They must have missed this great knowledge of yours. What do they know?
Surely you wouldn’t ignore what the law says in order to make a living. I mean, you teach for a living. It’s not like you’re biased or anything by defending against all rationale that the Cambodian government is wrong about government orders regarding teaching.
Your lame whataboutism doesn’t warrant a reply.

They monitor social media and people caught advertising are firmly told to stop.
