There's me thinking it was some sort of protection racket
I was lucky when I was $2 short when paying for my passport but had one of those bastards in my wallet. The embassy accepted it without hesitation.
I'm guessing it wasn't your engagement party. Which is good luck

I'm surprised it was accepted as legal tender. I always assumed Cambodians only thought of the bill as a lucky charm!

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

How much do they sell them for at the gold shops?
I think he used them more for forming, shall we say, short-term friendships.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 3:00 amGavin Mac made his fortune bringing suitcase loads of those $2 bills over here, I think he flooded the market.misspelt yoth wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 11:11 pmI'm surprised it was accepted as legal tender. Even in the US they are quite seldom, and if given one, I would hold on to it in a separate dept.
And what luck it brought me, unbelievable.

Over a decade ago the head of the Khmer Navy gave me this note, imbued with powerful Monk Magic to protect me from bullets.
It works too. In all this time, I have not been shot once
You can keep your $2 notes, I will keep the faith with my Magic Monk Money

"We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
In Vietnam the USD 2 bill is regarded as giving good luck. In Cambodia they are NOT welcome.
