Living arrangements for the family have changed, bed rooms have been added etc but they are now further away from the WiFi unit ( what ever it's called ) so reception is poor,
I've seen several WiFi boosters advertised, just plug them in and they extend the range by 10-15 mtrs.
My question is are they any good ?
If so, can you offer suggestions on what would be a good purchase.
NB: We all know I have limited knowledge of what I am talking about, so please post technical replies in simple words that I can understand.
Thanks.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

I have used the xiaomi wifi range extender for a couple of year (previous model) it works great and they are cheap.
Just plug into any powered usb or ,like I do, a cell phone charger plugged into any electrical outlet.
The only downside is that they are limited to 300Mbs but with my wifi that is not a problem as it usually peaks out around 1.5Mbs.
I have bought a couple of other types, chunkier and they plug right into outlet, but after a few months they quit working the xiaomi brand keep on working without a problem and are easy to set up.

I bought a couple of the XiAomi ones. You do actually need to set them up by downloading the XiAomi app and going through a short process to get them connected and working, if I'm not mistaken.
One of the two I bought no longer works properly, although it doesn't matter as we have since started to use the hard wired cat 6 system which allows us to have a router plugged in on each floor.
If it's your house and you plan on being there long term I'd consider installing something a bit more wired in.

Has anybody used one of the wifi extenders which use the electrical wiring of the house? Do these work in houses here, or are there any 'features' of electrical wiring here which would render them useless?
Something like this:
US $33.55 | A pair, RJ45 Gigabit 1000Mbps Powerline Network Adapter, AV1000 Ethernet PLC Adapter,WiFi Router Partner, IPTV, Homeplug AV2

Powerline networking, I can’t think of why it wouldn’t work in Cambodia but I wouldn’t use it in a house with unreliable electricity and dodgy spikes.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 2:14 pmHas anybody used one of the wifi extenders which use the electrical wiring of the house? I haven’t tested it in Cambodia.
EoP is what I'd consider as a last resort. Once you've attempted every other option to get a connection. I mean, it works but certainly not as well as you'd think.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 2:14 pmHas anybody used one of the wifi extenders which use the electrical wiring of the house?
