US Election 2020
I'm going to spend the next four years whining and shouting about it was a fix, Russians, Democrat and Brexit voters are stoopid and so on.

It's not over yet Rob, but I do hear they're going to announced the winner soon.
Apparently, they're just Putin in the final votes.

They should get sandbags too - to protect against the impending tsunami of liberal tears. Lots of new memes will be created by hairy nosed liberals (who learned nothing) pissing themselves with their heads popping off and howling at the moon. Fools!
Curiously the only people out protesting have been Trump goons shouting ‘count every vote’ or ‘stop the count’ depending on which state they are in
Has anyone seen Visser or Go Programmer or fapsara lately?
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Overseas the USA knows how to kill. How come they show so much restraint when they have internal terrorists running around for months looting and murdering? I doubt the senile old man will do anything about it if elected...

You mean the right-wing terrorists who have killed 329 people since 1994? The current president has been encouraging them, why would he want to do anything about it?Green Martian wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 3:12 pmOverseas the USA knows how to kill. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I was listening to a live stream of a protest gathering outside a counting station a few hours ago.
It was a ‘peaceful’ protest, but would break out into sporadic chanting of ‘USA!’ & ‘Arizona!’ & ‘Four More Years!’ and even ‘1776!’.
It wasn’t unduly unsettling, but I got the impression that it wouldn’t take much of a flashpoint for things to turn nasty.
There have already been reports of skirmishes between opposing groups.
All this and even before a ‘winner’ has even been announced! (Well, officially, at any rate.)
I fear civil war could break out. Perhaps an unfounded fear, but there are worrying signs.
Of course, Mr T had been making his spurious claims for weeks that there would be electoral fraud. But why couldn’t he at least have awaited the final count, before fanning the flames? A number of recounts in such a close race would surely have been granted.
A la 2000 - if it hadn’t been for Foxy!

The fact thing is that he actively encouraged this outcome. He actively told his base to vote in person and to forego postal ballots, during a pandemic.
He can hardly be surprised that he surged into the lead on Tuesday night - in person voting is easier to count and is done first. Why then is he surprised and screaming unfair that postal votes are predominantly Biden.
It would be fascinating to understand how many Trump voters who might have voted by mail, decided not to when he dissed on it, but were then wary of voting in person.
He screwed up badly.

Looking back from, say, 10 years from now, do you think it will be seen as a massive anti-Trump (arrogance, narcissism, spurious claims) or an equally massive surge of support for Mr Biden?
I rather suspect the former.
As I stated earlier, (and some other posters have also said) I don't think a good choice has been offered the American people.

Neither. The results are purely about turnout.
Look at Georgia for example. A massive uptick in votes cast. Now consider this - after the 2018 midterms the unsuccessful candidate Stacey Adams has worked tirelessly to expand the franchise, particularly amongst the black communities. Over the last year nearly 800,000 extra black voters registered.
It’s also interesting that republicans have done reasonably well in senate elections. Could you argue that there are many voters who have voted republican in the senate, but failed to vote for trump as president?

Misplaced ballots are being found accidentally and more people voted in Wisconsin than there are registered voters.
I don’t remember if that happened in 2016 when the democrats were more confident they would win.
