Didn't you grow up in NZ? You should've learnt how important it is to chain your jandals to the fence at the Marae, same applies to visiting the Wats in Cambodia

Look for amputees in the vicinity. They are the usual suspects when a single item of footwear is stolen. Also goes for gloves.

Once forgot my camera next to my sandals at the gate of Rangoon’s shwedagon Pagoda, 45 min later it was still there.
