Is your cost of living in Cambodia on the rise? Poll.
It seems the cost of living in many countries has risen at a considerable rate recently. Are you finding it more expensive to live in Cambodia over the last year or so?

It’s a shame 440 posters are too lazy to engage with all the new threads Phil is starting. I for one would like to hear about COL in Cambodia these days.
Keep trying Phil. Someone might make an effort sooner or later, once they’ve stopped moaning about how 440 isn’t as good as it used to be.

Most obvious for me is the cost of diesel/petrol. It now takes me about $8 to fill up, previously that would be $6 or so. It isn’t radical as far as a motorbike goes, but I’m quite glad I made the shift to two wheels as with longer & longer car jams, and the cost of filling my car up up each week for the commute wouldn’t be fun, even if it is a diesel & high mpg. I still have the car for longer trips, bulky cargo or just when it is peeing down so hard I can’t see for the school run, but everything else I can achieve easily on two wheels.
Other items like food, no really obvious impact, but I’m sure likewise companies must be passing on increases. I’m capable of going “full Khmer” if necessary & my favourite steak, cheeses & chocolate go through the roof, so not losing sleep just yet.

Yes, obviously.
The sad thing is it's mostly ascribed to the cost of fuel, but there's no corresponding decrease in product prices when fuel is cheaper

Cost of veg, fruit & meats at local market I would say 10-15% increase past 12-months, arguably more on some items. Not really noticed a significant change on imported things that I buy from modern style supermarkets or marts. Inflation in PP has been rising around 9% annually per year over the past 3 or 4 years so clearly an impact.

In Australia a lettuce was up to $12, now back to $5. A capsicum last week was $4, a tomato $1 and a mandarin 45 cents.
I get my fruit and veg from the farmer's markets. The price hasn't really changed. That said, I don't buy much salad vegies during winter. Meat is a different story. Beef and Lamb up. Pork and chicken around the same. Dairy up 20%. Petrol coming back down now but did get quite expensive. I only drive around 350km/month so not really noticeable that much for my budget.Dan Murphy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 6:39 pmIn Australia a lettuce was up to $12, now back to $5.
