1 bedroom, balcony, river facing....
1 bedroom, balcony, river facing....
Hello there,
I will be arriving in Phnom Penh in the next couple of weeks. I work online, so internet is very important -- I will be staying in a hotel/guest house that has internet until I can find an apartment to lease (I work from 6pm-8am EST, and I've been unable to find a 24x7 internet cafe located in Phnom Penh).
I am looking for an apartment with a balcony, preferably on a high level (I plan on possibly smoking marijuana on said balcony and don't wanna get arrested....). I would really like it to be river facing if possible -- is this possible for around $300? I believe so, because on another post I saw this for $300:
24 hour security
Flat screen TV
Good quality furniture
Rooftop bar and restaurant
Squash Court
Gym
9 ball pool table
Aircon
Could you guys be so kind as to point me in the right direction?

Is that the same as riverside or any apartment that faces towards the river? The post you saw has no mention of the river. Does it?river facing
1st floor balcony will be fine for weed smoking. Have you been to Cambodia before? Nobody really gives a shit about that.
That's Murray's place. It's not near the river but in a well connected, quiet location.Zasp wrote:Hello there,

If AIA is paying $250 for a similar property away from the river with his Khmer Mrs doing all the ground work how would you suggest someone straight of the boat gets a better deal such as the one described above?

This is not what I suggested.

Would one facing the Stung Meanchey river be suitable? It's a little to the west, in a charming local setting.I would really like it to be river facing if possible

For $300, I think he can get a place, an apartment if you will, where you can see the TONGLE SAP river, either from the room or from the deck, and get a couple of other requirements that he posted. I had a Psar Chas apartment (until last June) that was $300, furnished, air con, a view of the Tongle Sap from the window, nice TV with cable. Plus a small park across the street.angsta wrote:Straight off the boat. New in town. Straight of the boat from Chau Doc?? My bad.
What did you mean?I think that you can find a place like this for $300
I thought that I was paying too much for it actually.
If you're willing to live on the other side of the river, I hear unfurnished houses are going for 220+.

I have only once ever heard of someone living on the other side of the river. I guess it would become a pain crossing the river to do anything.
Depends a bit on what you're doing.nightmare.believer wrote:I have only once ever heard of someone living on the other side of the river. I guess it would become a pain crossing the river to do anything.
If you've no fixed daily schedule I guess it would be ok.
I think Ken Svay and Phuket 2006 lived there.
A retired friend of mine is also moving there end of this month from the Russian Market area. He's signed a contract for a house, 218USD/ month.
There are frequent and regular transportation options accross the river from early morning until late at night I think.
