Passport
angsta,
It's time I already have scheduled off work. I doubt I'll be able to do it again. However, honestly (and I don't work for the Dept of State, mind...) I feel I submitted enough documents. The woman had never done ID witness before, so, I wonder if she was a little irritated that day or something. She had a pretty rude demeanor about her. Will find out...hopefully, if they do require more info -- VisaHQ will actually contact me and allow me to submit more without doing the whole process over.
Barang,
Very interesting story! I was only 11 when 9/11 happened, so I don't know much about flying before then -- but, from reading FlyerTalk forums, etc it seems 9/11 really caused a mess. And rightfully so, maybe.
Thanks for the replies guys! I so want to come to Cambodia. The lady did mention if I didn't get a full passport they might give me an "emergency passport" just for this trip. That would be fine too, I reckon.

US emergency passports, as i understand, are only issued for flying from another country back to the states, They issue these to people they are not really sure about.
Cant you contact where u were born and get a new bc? Shouldn't be to hard. I
These guys claim 24 hour service, http://www.ambassadorpassportandvisa.co ... ports.html
9/11 changed many things in the states and NONE for the better.
Might i ask Why did u pay for air tickets and all with out having a pp? If u had one and it was stolen it would be eay to replace.

Hi Phuket2006,
I purchased the air tickets before the Passport because I needed proof of travel (ie: printed out flight itinerary) in order to use the expedited Passport service.
*Apparently* they issue out limited passports in some cases (valid for 1 year) in case the proof of citizenship and/or identity is not completed, after which you must fulfill the requirements to a better degree. At this point it's a waiting game I reckon. If all goes well, will be leaving Dulles and headed to Phnom Penh on the 25th!
I appreciate every bodies responses. I checked you your link Phucket2006, and for ID witness it says a minimum of 6 documents. VisaHQ, etc does not require this, only a "combo of documents". So, hopefully they can at least pull me a limited passport. I've been spending a lot of time reading about Cambodia and can't wait to experience it.

Hi BirdBrain,
Just for vacation however making the transition to live there (presuming it's as great as it sounds ) wouldn't be too hard, I reckon, as I work online.

This is interesting. How many Americans vacation in Cambodia as their first international flight? Very few.
I predict he leaves Virginia on the 25th, arrives in Phnom Penh on the 27th, and a young local lass gets her claws into him by the 29th.
Does he have accommodation lined up? I'm worried about him. Is he going to Siem Reap? I may have to PM him my "Top Ten Rules for American male first time international travelers vacationing in Cambodia."

Phnom Penh.
I am speaking with somebody with regards to accommodation via e-mail however haven't made anything in stone yet because...of, well, the Passport.
I looked it up and apparently "limited passports" are issued, not "emergency passports", in cases where proof of ID wasn't sufficient. I hope I get something....
Hmmm, women;) Feel free to PM me, lol

Let's see how this whole thing plays out first. It already sounds like it is going to be a complete and utter trainwreck and he hasn't even arrived in Cambodia yet. We could be speaking to the next Wild Turkey Man.gavinmac wrote:Does he have accommodation lined up? I'm worried about him. Is he going to Siem Reap? For what it's worth, last night I sat on a flight from Tokyo to Bangkok next to a 50 something American from Indiana who had never left the US before and was on a solo business trip to check out his company's plant in Pattaya. I wonder if he'll be eaten alive.
