Metfone show their true Cambodian colours
You need to be aware of a policy-shift by this company.
I've been on the LT20 deal for a while - $20 for 12GB. When I run out I buy another card and top up.
Last couple of times the $20 has run out after using up 2GB - the missus called up the hotline and called into the store to complain, to be told we screwed up the complicated sms system.
Not true.
Today the missus was informed that they've introduced a new policy that only allows ONE top up per month. Thus we've wasted 2 $20 cards while they lied to us. The staff in the shop are embarrassed and have had a lot of outraged customers. So to save you adding to our ranks, be aware that the policy decision from on high is to take the money and fuck the customers over.

I mean their business practices are typically bloody Cambodian. I'd expect a Vietnamese company to be less cuntish.hanky wrote:What do you mean Cambodian? I thought they were Vietnamese.

Jeez, I've never come across that attitude in Asia before.

this sounds rather jacked up, i might consider switching if this is for true which is a shame because i get awesome speeds from metfone, but if they only want to take my money once a month then theyre so stupid that dont even deserve to get that, fucking maggots.

Actually I’m totally confused about the whole thing also.
I’m on the LT20 plan also, USB modem. Bought it about 3 weeks ago, during which time I’ve waxed my first 12 GB. I’ve just found out that recharging with a $5 card is shit – it’s barely even good for half a GB. So obviously recharging less than $20 is a bad idea.
On the other hand... as I understand it, you’re supposed to be able to recharge at any time with $20, and it will basically ‘reset your month’ with 12GB, which you then have 30 days to use or lose? (This is just how I understood it, not sure if true or not?)
But what you’re saying is that you can now only do this once a month? And anyway, how is ‘a month’ defined for this new once a month rule? As in, a calendar month? Or a rolling 30 days based on the date that you signed up, or what?

If thats the situation then buy another sim card from the metfone and use it when the other one maxes out.

Or just top up with the $40 20GB package, right? Not as great a deal, but not terrible. The pain in the hole is that what are we all supposed to do for the rest of this month once our packages run out? Can we add a different package?

i always use the $20 within about 3 weeks or so, but as this guy says
thatd work fine for me as like i said, $20 lasts me about 3 weeksdv8inpp wrote:If thats the situation then buy another sim card from the metfone and use it when the other one maxes out.
I got a message from metfone this month. It stated that there was insufficent credit on my account to renew my LT20 package, which to me means they would automatically renew my package at the end of the month.

Then when I recharged I got the following

and then got the following

So I got my old unused balance back.
One time I forgot to recharge and was able to use the service for quite a while after my money ran out, I lost the $1.95 balance on the non Internet package balance and lost some of my 12GB when I recharged.
I also get reminders from Mobitel when my internet package is about to expire.

Pardon my ignorance but I'm interested to know how you guys use up 12gb - I'm looking around now at data plans prior to buying my first real computer ( I use an old iPhone' now ) and I dont know what to expect my usage will be ; how many gb is downloading a movie for example ? Are movies the biggest single use ?

Depending on the quality and length about 1GB for a movie. 350MB/480p or 1.2GB/720p for a 45 min TV show.
