I know exactly what you mean. I dont think hangover symptoms mix well with chili cookoffs.Felgerkarb wrote:Why am I always so hung over I can't make it to the cookoff....DAMN DAMN DAMN.
In 364 more days, ill refuse to go out on the Saturday night before the event.
Goodbye America, if anyone asks, say we were shipwrecked. Goodbye to your junk and your old hideola. Have a nice day.

Who were the runners up?
There's a bit more info at this link: http://nyampenh.wordpress.com/2011/07/1 ... i-cookoff/SunSan wrote:Where are the photos?

"3rd place: Buenos Noches by Sharky Al.
2nd place: John’s Famous Cambodian Chili"
Does this mean that Sharky bar won 3rd place, or is Sharky Al unrelated? Does John have a restaurant we can sample his chili at?
This is Jon (2nd place). You'll probably have to wait till next year's Cookoff to try it again.
“Do you really want to live in a world without Coca-Cola?”
Anyone stupid enough to enter his own competition and win it deserves all the praise he gets. Perhaps this is why in the west they deny you, your family or close associates to enter the comp.
Even if it was totally blind tasting, by blind people with no taste buds and being fed through a tube stuck in your stomach you knows there's something going on .
Also - What style of chili was the competition about. Texas, Mexican, Cincinnati-style. Even Pocket guide realised that competitions that are based on abstract concepts and paid subscription leads to denigrate the orgainsers.

So in the big debate of beans vs no beans in chillijm wrote:Dallas did not enter. Greg obviously has a Texas chili bias but there are no restrictions on what entrants can do and thus a lot of variety among the competing chilis.
what type of chilli won and received second and third place, beans or no beans?
cheers
