I am sure it might not have occurred to you but there might be reasons beyond those you gave for no job. And because you can't find work, the country is at fault? How does that work?
Seriously, what did you expect?

I know for a fact that there is teaching work for 65 plus male teachers because there are two guys of that age working at my school. One of them specializes in IELTS and the other is a retired UN consultant who is highly educated and does a couple of hours ESL teaching a day - he really doesn't need the money - to keep himself busy.
However, it is really difficult - and your TEFL provider should have told you this - for older male teachers to score a full time teaching gig at one of the main language schools here. I know it sucks but Khmer kids prefer younger teachers and therefore, to keep the customers happy in a highly competitive market, the schools prefer younger teachers too.
So if you have a pension coming in you should be able to augment it by teaching and there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to tag a couple of hours a day somewhere. Try Beltei, Newton Thelei or one of the lower rung places.

If you spent a couple of hours on a computer with internet and a printer then you can get yourself a copy of some sort of degree (or find an expat that knows Photoshop, buy him a case of beer and you can get a pretty nice degree certificate) and a CV full of made-up experience in your home country of schools, colleges and universities that no local Admin would ever bother checking.
For your next interview take a shower, spray on shit loads of cheap deodorant and cologne like Khmers do, put on a suit jacket and tie, go to your interview and brown nose the incompetent, egomaniac boss about how good he and his crap hole of a school/university is and then try to get at least $10 an hour.
Don't drink or do whatever else in the hours before the interview and this time don't give your address as the Walkabout Hotel.

Does busman's name start with a G, by any chance? And did he walk away from a Battambang bus stop without paying for his ticket? It would explain some things.Just asking.

A guy like that could be really useful when explaining colours, with all the cheap B=W photocopied text books.Chuangt2u wrote:Visible tattoos? No degree, no experience, 65, TEFL = NO job

Name doesn't start with a G, didn't even get off the bus when it stopped in B'berg.
Yes interviewed at Beltei, took the test & the whole 9 yards, 10 applicants for 2 part-time jobs though.
Have one of those life skill degrees, real pretty, that I use sometimes.
TEFL provider did explain the drawbacks & had I been able to start when I completed the course in Apr 2010 most likely would have found me a job or at the least hired me at their language school, however the school is now run by the owners daughter & she has cleaned house of all the old staff.
Got a plane ticket out tomorrow night, 2 1/2 months is enough.

I think you're making a mistake, it will be harder anywhere else.busman774 wrote:Name doesn't start with a G, didn't even get off the bus when it stopped in B'berg.

No offence intended re the G thing, if you met him you would understand why I asked.

You certainly know how to sell yourself. Going by your description, it's really not surprising that nobody gave you a job, you sound like someone who has been a total waster all your life. I'm sure that that isn't the case, but it comes across like that, and maybe you should think about doing a better PR job for yourself. No degree, no experience
