Room for rent in Toul Kork
Room for rent in Toul Kork
I have an extra bedroom in my apartment. The bedroom isn't currently furnished, but I could probably work something out with the land lord. It would probably end up being $150 for rent or less (not including utilities). There is a balcony. It is a fairly quiet neighborhood (it is located on st 606). Looking for female roommate.
Thanks,
Julie
Thanks,

I guess I wasn't very clear, but it would be a furnished room for $150 or less. If you wanted an unfurnished room, it would probably be 100 or 110.
Tell us more about the "or less" part..goodtwin wrote:I guess I wasn't very clear, but it would be a furnished room for $150 or less. If you wanted an unfurnished room, it would probably be 100 or 110.
I haven't talked to the land lord about it. I did mention that I might want to have a roommate later, so I would have to talk to the landlord, or more realistically, find someone who speaks Khmer and English to help me talk with the land lord (her 13 girl speaks some English, but I do have a friend that I could have talk to her). I don't know how much more she would charge for someone else moving in. I'm unclear about a few things. It partly depends on what the person moving in expects. Do you want an AC (the extra bedroom doesn't currently have an AC)? The clothes washer is currently in the extra bathroom connected to the extra bedroom. Can that be moved to somewhere else in the apartment? There are decisions that need to be made, and I don't really want to make all those decisions myself.
She should be happy about it because the utilities that she is already ripping u off on will double! Weird setup... What other questions do u have? The k440 gents will probably be able to answer all of them..goodtwin wrote:I don't know how much more she would charge for someone else moving in.
So there is a washing machine (for clothes) in one of the bathrooms. Is there anywhere else in an apartment it could be put? About how much does it cost to put a AC unit in? How much do bed and mattresses cost? I think those are all the questions I have right now...
Hmmm... U can get a decent bed with mattress for about $150-200, although I just went out and bought a really nice foam mattress with nice a black bed frame for $400ish.... I'm guessing about $200-300 for an ac unit installed...goodtwin wrote:So there is a washing machine (for clothes) in one of the bathrooms. Is there anywhere else in an apartment it could be put? Agree. The main cost is the AC itself, 220- 300, depending on whether you want a 1, 1.5 or 2kw machine, which would depend a bit on the roomsize.cambod wrote:Hmmm... Putting it in could cost 30- 40USD. Pipes are expensive!
Sunsan is not an AC expert, I think. A 2KW machine would at best cool a closet. I think he means HP. 2HP units are more like $600. For a small bedroom, 1HP is fine. They run from $220-$325 new, and about $100 less for second hand, but I recommend avoiding the latter unless you know and really trust the seller. Installation should be $10 + $7 or $8 for brackets plus maybe $5-$10 for wiring and a breaker plus the copper pipe which will cost $7-$8 per meter, so the closer the outside unit is to the inside unit, the cheaper it will be. You can get mattresses for around $100 and cheap bedframes for around the same price, if I remember right. For the washing machine, look to see where you would have to run pipes for the water inlet and a drain to determine where you could put it.
1HP = 750 Watts (0.75KW)
=> 2KW = 2.6 HP
The only really good mattress is a pocket spring, and about the cheapest of those can be found for c. $550 at the "home living" shop on mao tse tung.
Wood beds can be had for $80 (king size) for something really rough, or more like $250-$3/4/5/6k+ for a good one, depending how "liberace" you want to go.

I think most of us can manage fine on $150 spring mattresses, do you work for "Home Living" or something?OnCore wrote: The only really good mattress is a pocket spring, and about the cheapest of those can be found for c. $550 at the "home living" shop on mao tse tung.
Who Gives a Fuck?
Some manage with less
I don't work for them, the mattresses are also in the furniture shop next to Smart on monivong. It might sound gay (though theres nothing wrong with that!), but you won't believe the difference when you try sleeping on a decent mattress compared to your $150 sqeaky trampoline.
BTW is that right, this was your 9999th post? Congratulations. Who will you decorate with your 10000th?

I have never seen a furnished apartment here for under $400 that did not use foam mattresses. While I agree that a good innerspring mattress is preferable, and I will probably buy one for myself when and if I make the decision to stay here permanently, for a cheap mattress I would rather have foam.
