probably Jamie, sounds like his m.o. An Italian chap did the same to me when i first arrived in pp, he was apparently well-known. i gave him a phone card and he looked disappointed! So we came back to Phonm Penh, booked our bus to head to Siem Reap which is where we are now. Thsi morning we got our bus. Actually we were pissed off because they told us our bus leaves at 8.45am and we would be picked up at 8.15am. So there we were enjoying a leisurely breakfast at 7.30am when a driver in a minibus comes to pick us up!!! Tut. So he drives us to the bus stop which takes about ten minutes and then we have to wait for our bloody bus!! While we were waiting an Aussie guy around fourty approached us rather stressed out. Basically his driver whi had seemed nice had stolen his bag with his wallet and money in. He didn't have a penny on him so we gave him ten dollars so he could get a ride back to the hotel and some food. We've heard many stories of bag snatching and camera theiving in Phonm Penh.
Jamies all right, I used to know him when he had a bit more money and we would go to martinis and he is quite interesting to talk to, as i was reminded when i saw him a couple yrs back ---- he comes and goes like a shadow now!
btw, the real thieves are the high-ranking officials--where do they get those 4wds and ginormous cakehouses from, hmm?
